It was the first time he saw her

Sand squelched beneath the green eyed teenager. as he walked along the beach, a million thoughts racing around his head but the crashing of the waves against the rocks controlled his ADHD like thoughts as his continued to walk down the beach. The beach had always been the boy's favourite place, as it was where his father used to take him when he was a little boy before the man enrolled in the navy and ended up not coming home

But it was still the boy's favourite place to go when he needed a breather

Percy didn't really do anything when he was down there, he tended just to enjoy the crashing of the sea against the rocks, the sound of the seaside filling his ears as he sea green eyes scanned over the sea, the waves were rough and choppy and couldn't make up its mind today seemingly reflecting his mood as he found himself unable to sit still for more than a few minutes

He didn't really know why, but it could have been something to do with his father's anniversary of his disappearance. Of course Percy and his mother Sally didn't know why Poseidon actually died so they mourned him on the day of his disappearance, Sally was Poisedon's soulmate and they loved each other dearly and ended up having a child together even though they were really young nobody cared as they thought they would last forever. Of course that didn't happen and when Poseidon was killed by a sunken ship, Sally was heartbroken and her usual bright world once again turned grey but she managed to pick up the pieces and putting her life back together was a challenge and out of grief and heartache she ended up marrying an abusive man who ended up abusing Percy and Sally herself. Fortunately he was murdered by a robber (who he was no match for him.) Now she was happily married again and although he was not her soulmate Percy's mother was happy and that was all Percy could ever ask for especially since his ADHD makes him a difficult child to handle sometimes

Across the way sat on the slightly damp sand with her nose buried in a book, her long blonde hair falling in princess curls. Neither one of them seeing the other one right away and Percy didn't quite know what made him look away from the sea and towards the rest of the beach, but in that moment he didn't seem to care but he was glad that he did because he saw a pretty girl sitting in the sand, her hair curly but he couldn't see what colour it was — it was just a light grey colour so Percy assumed her hair was either a very light brown colour or blonde.

"Hi" Percy stated shyly as he walked across the beach towards the girl

The girl didn't glance up at the voice seemingly too engrossed in her make believe world to notice the one around her and perhaps then it was no surprise that the girl didn't even look up from her book as Percy sat down beside her and it was only when the raven haired boy placed his hand over the book that finally the girl looked up, a startled expression on her face

"Do you mind?" The girl snapped "I'm trying to read here"

Okay...Percy thought he was expecting her to be so harsh or to look like she was going to stab the raven haired teenager with a dagger but the smile never fell from his face as he knew there was something special about the girl in front of him, a certain fire that other girls seemingly lack

"Don't let me stop you" Percy chuckled putting his hands up in surrender which caused the girl to furrow her eyebrows because most guys would have run a mile by now, not liking an independent woman who stood up for herself because they were too old fashioned like that, she supposed but this guy was different he was actually sticking around an inviting the girl to read "I just wanted to know why you were sat here all alone seemingly stuck in your own world when a girl like you shouldn't  be here on her own

"Oh so you think I can't handle myself?" The girl said hotly and she went to stand up but Percy grabbed her shoulder and pulled her back down causing the girl to glare at him Percy flinched a little but covered it up by giving the girl a lopsided grin

"No, no that's not what I'm saying at all" Percy defended shaking his head and looking like a kicked puppy and the girl's facial features soften her heart aching that she made the boy look like that  "I just wanna know where your family is"

"My family and I don't get on well" The girl muttered vaguely

"Yeah my family life is complicated as well" Percy commented which caused the girl to raise her eyebrows at the tone he was using, it was as if they were discussing the weather and as smoothly as possible he had already switched topics "Anyway a girl as pretty as you should have a name so what is it"

The girl considered not telling him for a momemt but then realised it probably wasn't in her best interest as she had to admit although they didn't start on the best note, the last few minutes of the conversation made the girl curious and she had to admit she wanted to know a little bit more about them "Annabeth"

"Annabeth" Percy repeated the name rolling off his tongue "I'm Percy"

Annabeth sticks her her hand out for Percy to shake and as soon as their hands touch, the grey starts to fade from their vision and Percy notices that Annabeth's hair is as blonde as honey and as silk and the two of them realised they each others soulmate

"Looks like we're stuck with each other" Percy grinned
