The Avengers

NO MIST

Percy Jackson sat down on a park bench, his head in between his hands as his eyes stung with fresh tears as memories from the war that had just happened began to plague him and he thought about all the lives he could have saved, especially the seven, if the seventeen year old boy had just been a little quicker and a whole lot smarter.

A jogger with sandy brown hair and blue eyes saw he teenager and instead of passing by him and carrying on with his life like others had done, only thinking a brief thought to what troubled the boy, the man stopped and sat down on the bench next to him, his breathing a little laboured but it finally brought the sea green eyed demigod to look up again

"Can I help you?" Percy croaked, quickly wiping the tears away

"Me? No" The man quickly shook his head before continuing "I'm just wondering why a teenager like yourself is sitting here in the cold and on a park bench and not hanging out with his friends and causing trouble"

"Mind your own business" Percy sniffed

The blue eyed man cracked a small smile "See guessing by the blue shade that your lips have started to turn I'm guessing you've been in the park for a while now. Why? I don't know I ain't going to ask but what I am going to do is give you twenty bucks and we can get coffee and I know this little shop down the way that do these strange cookies that are the blue colour but strangely they're really good"

"Why do you think I'm just going to come with you?" Percy asked smirking as he raised an eyebrow, after all he knew if the blue eyed stranger did end up posing a threat to him, he could take him with the help of years of training and monster attacks and godly speed and reflexes on his side. "Your a stranger my mom said never to go with strangers"

"Captain America" The blue eyed sandy haired man introduced, shaking the teenagers hand and raising his eyebrow at the strength the teenager possessed in the handshake   "But you can call me Steve Rogers"

The demigod and America's oldest Avenger walked into a coffee shop, the little bell above the door alerting the other customers of their arrival and some people's jaws dropped at the sight of the Avenger walking in the cafe with a. teenager while others look lustfully at either the teenager or the Super Solider or both of them at the same and so people just didn't seem to care and those people made a sigh of relief pass through Percy's lips. He really didn't have to deal with more people today than he already had.

"Tell you what kid, you go find us a seat and I'll get us some coffee and a blue cookie" Steve told the green eyed son of Poseidon and Percy did as he was told even though he grumbled about not being a kid as he walked away from Steve -- after all while legally he may still be classed as a kid, mentally and physically the seventeen year old boy was much much older having seen things no normal person should ever have to.

After five minutes of waiting, Steve returned a paper bag filled with two cookies and two piping hot coffees in paper filtered cups in his hands. He set one coffee on the table and pushed it over to Percy as well as the paper bag and Percy took a cookie out of the bag before breaking it in half and popping the sugary treat into his mouth

The chocolate melted on his tongue however the seventeen year old boy stopped chewing for a moment as he was suddenly reminded of the cookies his mom used to make and he realised that these cookies would never be as good as the cookies his mom would make. Steve noticed this however and raised an eyebrow "You okay kid?"

Percy nodded quickly and mumbled "Don't call me kid"

Steve Rogers puts his hands up and just as he was about to retort and said that legally he was a minor, when Steve's phone buzzed in his pocket causing the old man to sigh before answering it only to find it was Tony "What Tony?" He grumbled, annoyed at being interrupted

"O-Kay" The billionaire drew out "Someone got out of the wrong side of bed"

"What do you want?" The ex solider snapped once again

"Geez." Tony whined  "Old man, just get back to Central Park, there's something going on"

"Central Park?" Steve repeated, confused  "I was just there"

"Well theres something going down some people describe it as some kind of bate from. hell" Tony explained leaving Steve Rogers, the man that people had claimed was running on borrowed time, which he technically wont disagree with, even more confused

"Okay. Be there in five" Steve reply's curtly before depositing his phone back into his pocket before looking at Percy who still held the blank don't talk to me look on his faced but still Steve could see the curious look swirling behind his green eyes

"Sorry kid--"

"Dont call me kid"

"Sorry, but I got to go. Officially Avengers business. Theres apparently a hell bat loose in Central Park" Steve tells Percy as he finishes the last drops of his coffee and moves to stand up but he wasn't expecting the kid to stand up with him, his eyes wider than Steve thought humanly possible and look genuinely frightened

"Let me come with you" Percy rushed out knowing what would happen, if the boy ended up not going and if the threat was what Percy thought it was -- one, or even more of the furies -- then six mortals in fancy dress wouldn't be able to handle Hades personally servants and someone would likely get hurt.

"Trust me kid, we've got this handled"

"No you don't" Percy argued "You don't know what your facing. I do"
