Tattoo Soulmate AU

NO MIST:

Percy had seen her name before he knew anything about her

Annabeth

That was her name and it was tattooed right across his heart and every time he looked down at his chest he saw her name tattooed across his heart, it was such a pretty name and he knew that he would like her before she even knew her

He had never known what a soulmate connection was like as his mom's soulmate had died when he was just a newborn and then Sally had ended up getting in a bad relationship with Smelly Gabe, as Percy liked to refer to him because he always smelled and although it took his mom a long time to get out of the relationship, she had eventually managed and now with her son and new boyfriend they lived in an apartment in Manhattan

So maybe that's why Percy didn't know why he felt pulled to the girl with long blonde hair that was styled in princess-like curls as he walked along the beach that day, listening to the crashing of the waves and the way the ocean seemed to lick up the sand and drag it back to the tide as if it was a beast that constantly needed to be fed and it would repeat the action again and again on an endless loop forever and ever

"Hey!" Percy called out to the girl, who didn't look up from the book she was reading and when Percy walked closer to her, she didn't even look up not even when Percy snapped his fingers in front of her face to gain her attention so as a last attempt he took the book off her lap and only then did she finally look up to him only a fierce glare was in her eyes

"Do you mind?" The girl snapped "I'm was trying to read here"

Percy chuckled before sitting down next to her, much to her annoyance as he put his hands in the air and tossed the dog-eared paperback towards her again as he said "Don't let me stop you"

"You've ruined it, now look at it!" Annabeth exclaimed shoving the book in his face

"C'mon I'm sure it's not that bad, why are you so attached to it anyway?" Percy asks as he looks towards the girl in confusion as she brushed her honey-blonde curls over her shoulder, he had never seen someone so interested in books as he himself doesn't really like to read as his ADHD and dyslexia make it a challenge

"Because some of us like to learn!" She told him a fierceness in her voice that had Percy taken aback for a moment but after that he found himself liking it and not a single cell in his body could explain why as his mind was telling him to run and never look back, but he stayed and he'd be glad he did so for the rest of his life

"But learnings horrible!" Percy exclaimed as he threw his head back and groaned. He didn't have the best track record with schools always finding some way or another to get kicked out of them, he didn't know why he just couldn't help it "Here what do you like to do for fun?

"Read," The girl told him again

Percy rolled his eyes "Something other than reading"

It took a while before the girl answered again almost like she was trying to sort out her thoughts and figure out what she actually liked to do but when she did Percy was surprised by her answer   "Well...I like architecture and swordplay"

"Swordplay, you're kidding right?" Percy asked, shocked

"Nope" The girl shook her head "I prefer daggers though but it's basically the same thing"

A lazy smirk spread across Percy's face as he looked at the girl a definite challenge in his eyes as he produced a plastic little sword that he kept in his jumper pocket as it was bigger than the pocket in his jeans as he realised the sword kept falling out of his jean pocket  "Care to see how good you are?

"You're lucky that I carry this around with me everywhere" The girl grinned as she noticed the plastic sword in his hand and she pulls out her own plastic dagger when she sees Percy's own sword. She immediately jumped up and thrust her dagger onto Percy's neck who immediately bent away from the dagger and stood too

The parried and ducked under each other's jabs and Percy tried to get her in the gut with the sword but the girl clearly saw this coming and twisted her body so that she avoided the attack and set her feet so she was once again steady as she makes a jab for Percy's head, only for him to duck at the last second looking pretty winded

"You're pretty good at this" Percy shouted over the sounds around them

"You're not so bad yourself"

"Thanks ... I think"

"No it's a good thing ... at least for now," The girl told him, finally landing a blow on the small of Percy's back as she had distracted him long enough, but she didn't expect Percy to react in the way he did, his eyes growing ever darker as he pins her down to the sand, her hands pinned by her head by Percy and just for a moment that seemed to stretch into endless minutes the two looked at each other watching the other person's chest rise and fall in time with one another

"I never did get your name" Percy pants

"Annabeth" The girl smiled, he had earned her name after all

"Annabeth" Percy repeated as his eyes locked onto the name written on the back of her wrist in black cursive Perseus when he saw his name on her wrist and he touched his heart before sucking in a breath

"You're my soulmate," He tells her with a small smile

"Why do I have an idiot as a soulmate" Annabeth groaned although there was a small smile on her face
