"It's so soft."
"I've never seen anything like it."
"It smells pretty."
"Can you three not sniff her like that?" Taehyun said, pulling Chaeryeong away from Soobin, Wooyoung, and Kai's curious noses and slapped their hands away from her flowered braid. "Stop being weird!"
"What're gonna do about it?" Soobin teased, ruffling Taehyun's hair. "Run away with her?"
"Soobin, I will choke you-"
"Taehyun, stop being so violent!" Beomgyu called from his place on Yeonjun's lap. "You're jealous. We get it."
"I'm not!" Taehyun started, but then his three friends began to awe at him, already saying stupid things that made the color of his cheeks shift to a rosy pink. "You guys are so dumb. . ." Taehyun held tightly onto Chaeryeong's hand and slightly hid behind her due to his embarrassment.
Beomgyu watched them from a distance and giggled at how Chaeryeong gently encouraged Taehyun out of his shell by reassuring him that everything was fine and that she was actually being flattered by his friends complimenting her.
But the younger's smile disappeared when he looked up at Yeonjun. The older was staring blankly at the small bonfire the two had set up together, his main focus being how the flames twirled together in a hypnotizing dance.
Beomgyu let out a frown. His mate had been so distant tonight. . .
Yeonjun had barely said anything to Kai and Soobin when the two greeted him, and he had only nodded with a small smile when Wooyoung and San teased him about finally doing a ceremony. It wasn't typical of Yeonjun to ignore them like that, especially when the older was usually the loudest one out of all of them.
The whole situation made Beomgy's heart sink. . . And his own fears weren't any help either.
Green and blue. . .
Fire and Earth. . .
Why did he feel like this?
Why was Yeonjun making him feel like this?
It almost felt like none of this was supposed to happen. . .
"Beomgyu?"
Beomgyu shifted his attention towards Yeonjun, his kitten-like hazel eyes meeting Yeonjun's green and blue orbs, his gaze looked hollow and. . . Almost strange to Beomgyu. It was as if the older was a mere stranger, not the creature he'd fallen in love with.
"Yeah?" Beomgyu answered quietly.
There was a second of silence as if Yeonjun was thinking about what to say during his hesitation. The older's gaze drifted away from Beomgyu, not knowing what was true or what wasn't any longer as he softly tightened his hold around Beomgyu's waist, fearing that if he ever lets himgo, he'd lose Beomgyu forever. "You do love me. . . Right?"
The question was merely a whisper, a small mumble that almost got lost in the breeze. It caught Beomgyu by surprise, so he immediately had to reassure Yeonjun, his small hands brushing against his mate's cheek. "Of course I do! Why are you asking such silly thing?" A small smile spread along his face. "I thought I made it clear many times."
But the smile didn't make Yeonjun feel any different as his eyes still shone with uncertainty. He let out a breath and whispered once more, his uncertainty coming back "I-I don't know. . ."
