Beomgyu pressed himself against the pool's wall. He could feel his heart beating like a drum, it was as if it was getting ready to jump out of his chest at any second. Due to the shock, he rubbed his eyes multiple times and looked at the water and then back at his hand. Yeah. . . No signs of injury or that strange creature. . . After much debate and lots of curiosity, Beomgyu decided to take a deep breath and explore further. But right as he was going to do so, a loud crash echoed against the silence of the night. So much that Beomgyu flinched when he saw the roof's door take an adrenaline-filled fly over to his side; crashing and breaking like an old and empty can of soda after reaching the pavement.
"Beomgyu!"
Oh no. . . Beomgyu frowned at recognizing the voice that belonged to the one creature who had enough strength on those scaled arms to fling a door and send it flying by accident. He felt his stomach turn upside down and he found himself sinking into the pool until the water covered his mouth.
As you and Beomgyu may have guessed, Soobin slipped midway reaching the pool where Beomgyu was cowering in. Even though the fall made every one of his bones hurt to the point of puking, Soobin managed to hold it in and forced himself to get up as if nothing had happened. He gripped his stomach and limped towards the pool, his head turning from side to side in search of his friend until he finally found a pair of hazel brown eyes staring at him.
"There you are." Soobin's shoulders fell with relief at finally finding his friend after all of the turmoil that had taken place at their dorm, even though he had sworn that he had almost fainted, he could clearly hear the desperate screams from Kai and the screeching of Taehyun as Beomgyu's flames began to burn his arm from the inside out.
Even though what Beomgyu had done was unforgivable, his eyes and voice were as soft and gentle as they always had been. "Come on," He crouched down and stretched his hand for Beomgyu to take. "Let's go back."
But Beomgyu rejected him.
With his eyebrows furrowed shamefully, Beomgyu closed his eyes and sank into the water once more. He didn't want to go back, he wanted to be left alone so he wouldn't hurt anyone else. Plus. . . He knew that poor and probably now left armless Taehyun would probably want nothing to do with him anymore.
And he understood that, and he was already accepting that too.
Soobin then frowned. He let out a sigh and pressed his hand against his neck while debating whether or not to enter the pool and drag Beomgyu out.
I mean. . . What would Yeonjun do? A slight feeling of loss gripped at Soobin. Yeonjun had been a great sense of support and reassurance. Even though he always panicked at Yeonjun's dumb teenage flirting, the older had always been a voice of reason and always knew what to do whenever their friends were upset.
An invisible lightbulb light up above Soobin's head, giving him an idea and enough clarity to finally step down and enter the dark waters of the moldy and now polluted pool. Even though the waters were extremely cold, the lapping of the water against his now dead and bloody scales was utterly pleasant.
But there was no time to let his instincts and the tingling in his scales get the best of him, he came here with a purpose and he was going to achieve it.
"Beomgyu come on, I know you can hear me."
Beomgyu's head popped up from the water. "No, I can't."
Soobin stretched his webbed-hand towards Beomgyu again, his eyes still soft as well as his voice. "Taehyun's waiting for you, come on."
But Beomgyu swam away, letting his stubbornness take the best of him. "No, he's not. . . I used my powers against him, he wouldn't want to see me. . ." The younger then looked down at his hands with a pout, reliving the scream of pain, as well as Taehyun's eyes, squeezed shut while tears ran down from his rosy cheeks.
