Chapter 35

The dark sky was clear, there were no signs of darkness or clouds as the moon shone brightly against the sky. Stars glimmered, contrasting very well against the dark blue canvas.

The ocean, a watery pit of mystery, danced along the moon's magnetic pull. Its once unforgiving waters were now silver and tranquil as they gently lapped at a bedrock a few meters away from the shore.

The breeze of the ocean flew and played with Soobin's hair, gently lifting his bangs and parting it so his forehead could be seen and admired by the one boy he was supposed to meet up with.

Lia held Soobin's hands between hers when Soobin began to fidget with them due to how nervous he was.

"It's okay, breathe"

"It's not okay!" Soobin snapped before going on and on in a tangent about the possible things that might go wrong. "What if I say something weird or bite him, or-"

"Bite him?" Hyuinjin suddenly asked. "Why would you bite him? I know Minho tried to eat him once, but he's not food."

"Shhh, just let them talk." Minho covered Hyunjin's frills with his hands and nodded at the two. "Please ignore him, he's having amnesia."

Lia looked at the two syrens and face-palmed. It hadn't been an hour and she was already fed up with Minho and Hyunjin's idiocy, if it hadn't been for Soobin begging her to come with him for emotional support with the promise of not being violent with Hyunjin and Minho, she would've already strangled the two to the point of turning their green and golden scales into a dark and deep blue.

"Please make it end. . ." Lia hissed under her breath which made a small smile of amusement creep over to Soobin's face. He patted her back lightly before directing his attention back to the sky.

It was getting late, where was he?

Had he forgotten?

Or worse. . .

DID HE DITCH HIM?

Oh, he wouldn't be able to bear with that, his best friend, his Promise, his entire world and existence, ditching him for a handsome red-haired dude with weird magic saliva and a concerning knowledge about plants and herbs.

OH. MY. GOD. WHAT IF HE ACTUALLY OWNED A UNICORN-

It all made sense now! The weird aura that surrounded Taehyun, the fact that he looked like a wimp but could beat anyone in a fight, the fact that he got along best with Kai, and the still shocking discovery that he liked girls-

Someone flicked his forehead, making him snap out of his delusions as he immediately let out a hiss of surprise mixed with the pain left on his forehead.

"What's going on in that little head of yours? You're dozing off." The Lia tilted her head and lightly knocked on the top of his head. "Hello? Mini Soobin, are you still there Yoo-hoo, do you want me wake you up, little one?"

"I'm not little-" Soobin's whole body began to shake when Lia grabbed him by the shoulders and shook him violently. "THEN WAKE UP, YOU TINY CLAM. THIS IS NOT DUMB DUMB TIME, BE A MAN!"

"Lia, we're scientifically not men-"

"Minho, be quiet." Lia, who was still shaking Soobin, glared at Minho with sharp lavender-colored eyes. She was smaller than Minho, but the look on her face was enough to intimidate him to the point of using Hyunjin as a shield.
