Chapter 30

"What happened over there? You ditched him!"

"I don't know!" Kai cried out, his body trembling all over at Taehyun's harsh tone.

After all the chaos that had been unchained by Soobin's confession, Beomgyu, Yeonjun and Taehyun had made the effort to follow a small trail of scattered swam feathers left by Kai to find the younger hiding inside a cave.

The young boy was sitting on the ground with his legs tightly closed and pressed against his heaving chest as he rocked himself back and forth to calm himself down.

"Taehyun calm down, you're scaring him." Yeonjun kissed Kai's forehead and let the younger get comfortable on his lap. "Give him a minute."

Kai buried his face against Yeonjun's chest, trying to inhale and exhale multiple times to stop himself from letting a stream of tears leave his eyes.

He liked Soobin. He liked him a lot, but the sudden outburst of emotions that he had never felt before had made him chicken out of the situation.

Did he regret doing that?

Yep.

It hurt him deeply to think about his poor Hyung standing on the sand all alone with a gift that had been made for no one but the boy he liked. . . or loved if you wanna go farther than simple child crushes.

But Kai's emotions had exploded like a bubble being pinched by the small claws of a tiger cub. Confusing poor Kai and making his irrational fears take over him. 

Don't get him wrong, he's like Soobin ever since the older had called him 'his' back to when they had met as toddlers who were no older than 3 and 5.

Kai knew Soobin better than no other, and he knew the older was hurting and he also knew that his poor syren friend was crying his heart out deep within the vast ocean.

Kai wanted to be with Soobin too, he knew he could always trust Soobin no matter the circumstances, but he had put his whole trust into someone else as well. . . And that person ended up betraying him. That person had shattered him like a ball being thrown at a stain glass window.

The encounter with that person had left Kai with a dark secret, darker than night itself, hidden within the walls of his still broken soul.

What if Soobin. . . 

No! He needed to get rid of those thoughts! 

Soobin was different and this wasn't the facility. He couldn't turn away from the beautiful feelings that he felt for Soobin. Not anymore at least. . .

He wasn't a a small and helpless boy who was scared of everything  due to the traumas he had endured. He was 17, he had grown passed that stage and the facility, along with his now vague memories, had been burned and destroyed. 

The only thing he wanted was to let go of his past, forgive himself, and finally heal from everything.

 If he wasn't the one taking the step into  doing that, then who was it going to be? It was his decision and his own will.  

A way to realize how being in love really felt like and how self-love was like.

After a few more minutes of getting pampered by his friends, Kai finally looked up from Yeonjun's chest, determination sudden blazing in his pretty silver eyes.
