Taehyun stood tall, he arched his back and the muscles in his shoulders and arms flexed as he pulled the arrow further. He had one of his eyes closed and his arms were slightly trembling since Yeonjun was looking intently at him with eyes that seemed to be sharper than a hawk's. The older had stayed like that ever since they moved from battle practice to hunting with the typical help of an arrow and the bow that belonged to the older.
Since the older's eyes seemed to be penetrating even through his soul, Taehyun couldn't help but to be nervous. He wanted to make Yeonjun proud and he wanted to prove to him that he could be as much of a good warrior as Yeonjun. But the anxiety and the fact that Yeonjun's voice began to get icier and much stricter as time went on.
"Are you just going to stand there and look at the landscape or what?"
The crude words of his Hyung sent a nervous shiver reflet to shot away throughout his body, making Taehyun flatten his ears and close his eyes before blindly setting the arrow off into the air.
The arrow rose for a bit, but midway through its flight towards the intact tree that it was supposed to sink into, the arrow changed its course and spiraled down towards the ground. The poor arrow sadly entered a graveyard of other arrows that hadn't been able to reach the almighty tree that stood just feet away from them.
At his newly failed attempt, Taehyun let out a sigh and lowered his head, his shoulders dropped sadly and his mouth formed a pout. "Forget it, I can't do it. . ."
Yeonjun let out a hum and hopped off the rock from where he was monitoring Taehyun. "Yes, you can," The older walked over to the sea of arrows and pulled one out of the ground with much ease. "You just need a little guidance." He walked over to Taehyun and took the bow from him.
"The steps you took where pretty good, but there are ways in which you can improve." The older lifted the bow in front of him, he gently pressed the arrow against the wooden curve and began to explain: "When you're shooting your target, you need to keep your back straight. Your pose needs to be comfortable enough for you to keep it for as long as you have to shoot, but alert enough so your arrow won't go flying off into someone else's eye," He moved his left foot to the front and aligned it with his left arm and shoulder. "You also need to align yourself with your target and never lose your focus."
As the older said those words, the arrow suddenly spiraled into the air and elegantly flew directly towards the tree. The pointy tip then sank deep into the soft bark that Taehyun hadn't been able to hit for the past hour or so.
The young boy's mouth gaped open, so much that a pretty orange butterfly almost entered his mouth and to end his life right then and there. But was quick enough to close his mouth and let a sad pout settle on his small face. Great, now he felt completely useless now that Yeonjun had hit the tree in only one try.
Taehyun's shoulders began dropping too, but before he could feel even more miserable, a hand brushed his back. The younger sighed and looked up at his Hyung with big puppy eyes.
"Hey, it's okay. You're newbie still, you'll get the hang of it," He then winked at Taehyun. "You might become better than me one day, who knows?"
Taehyun let out a tiny laugh. "As great as you? I don't think anyone would be able to do that." He pressed his head against Yeonjun's chest when the older wrapped his arms around him and embraced him in a tight and affectionate hug.
The hug was reassuring for sure, it made the younger relax and enjoy the presence of his Hyung. He had almost forgotten how good it felt to be close to Yeonjun once again, let alone be in the same tribe as him.
