"Quit moving."
"But it hurts! And my scales are itchy."
"Soobin, if you don't stop moving, I will take your other eye out for real this time!"
Soobin's head jerked slightly upwards when Taehyun dipped his hand into an empty coconut shell filled with an herb-ointment and rubbed it into the left side of his face. His eyebrows were furrowed and Soobin continued to complain some more, but in the end, they ended up coming to a compromise; it was either Soobin stayed still or be left with no vision for the rest of his life.
Luckily, despite the attack and the horrendous wounds left on Soobin's face by the dragon's jaws, Taehyun's powers had been able to miraculously reconstruct the majority of Soobin's face. But for some weird reason, maybe due to Eclipse's own powers, Taehyun's powers hadn't been able to fully heal Soobin, leaving the left side of Soobin's face permanently disfigured and added to the emptiness left in his left socket.
From his slumber on Beomgyu's lap, Kai weakly lifted his head up, his tired silver eyes shining amongst the dreadful darkness of the den. "Taehyun, be gentle with him," The younger let out in a quiet voice, almost unbearable as he laid back on Beomgyu's lap once more, half slipping into another slumber as he continued to mumble his worry for Soobin. "You know how much he fidgets. . ." And with that last slurring of words, Kai closed his eyes, hugging his legs in a fetal position; a position he hadn't slept in ever since they all escaped from the facility.
Of course, the younger one needed a way to comfort himself after such a hideous event and the scars that had also been left on his body as a memory. Even if Kai's body was hidden by bandages along his slim chest and torso, the deep red stains that ran along his back and the piles of stripped bones and feathers laying at the back of the den were enough proof of the damage done to the youngest as he was now left wingless.
Beomgyu's fingers laced through Kai's raven-colored locks, trying to find a way to make him feel safer as soon as he saw the younger one hug his legs. He knew he wouldn't be able to help much though, he himself was drowning within his own worries, the thought of leaving Yeonjun alone trapped inside the fire were more than enough to rile up his most anxious thoughts. And even if Fire Triber's warriors led by Taehyung were able to be alerted by what had happened, Beomgyu would not be able to shake off the feeling of both guilt and perturbation.
And that's when his mind began to spiral.
What if he had stayed with the older?
What if he had stayed with Fire Tribe instead of listening to himself and run like a madman all over the island?
What if he had never let their souls come together. . .?
Beomgyu gulped, his heart swelled with a pinching pain which increased the more he thought about it. Would things have come together differently? An emptiness settled upon his stomach, and despite feeling warm for most of the time, Beomgyu could not feel any more cold right as his guilt consumed him. Even if whatever that had happened hadn't been his fault, Beomgyu could not shake off that dreadful feeling of guilt.
The only thing he wanted now was for Yeonjun to return safe and sound to Earth Tribe with the Fire Tribe warriors.
And as if the thought of Yeonjun and Fire Tribe had brought them over, the undergrowth surrounding the hollow in which Earth Tribe lived shifted as tigers from Fire Tribe burst into the hollow. Some of the warriors were bleeding, their pelts rugged and torn in certain spots, while others were leaning against their tribemates with gritted teeth and eyes filled with pain.
