Yeonjun stared at the faces of his friends. Their eyes were peacefully closed as if they were asleep, and their hair slowly flowed with the mist that had shifted into their forms. A large knot formed inside Yeonjun's stomach, making him want to step back and puke. His eyes drifted towards Beomgyu's figure, slowly filling up with despair.
This couldn't be true. . .
He couldn't be destined to murder them. . . Not his friends!
This had to be another one of Eclipse's sick tricks. One damned trick to make Yeonjun lose his grip on reality and his shattering sanity.
"Eclipse, this can't be true." Yeonjun finally said. He shook his head, refusing to accept it as he turned a pleading gaze at the cat, begging the shadow to stop torturing him. "It can't be them- Please tell me it's not them!"
Eclipse only gazed at Yeonjun, his hollowed gaze feeling like two icicles piercing through Yeonjun's body, ripping him open to bleed onto the dark sulfur of the moon.
Suddenly, a dark crackle echoed against the quietness of Yeonjun's despair."Oh, but they are." Eclipse jumped off the mouth of a geyser again and happily trotted over to Yeonjun, ignoring how the 20-year old was about to have a breakdown at the truth that had been revealed to him. "Why do you think they were kept like animals in a facility? They're powerful children. . . Even you have noticed."
Yeonjun shook his head again, still unable to process everything that was happening to him. "N-No, no, no. Eclipse, you don't understand," Tears built up in his eyes as a hiccup escaped him. "Eclipse. . . They're my friends! They're. . ." He sniffled when his gaze met the figures of his friends once more, their faces still carrying their peacefulness.
Those four were his friends. His family. His happiness. The entire reason he hadn't let Eclipse break him after years of mental torture. He couldn't do it. . . He couldn't murder the four most important pieces of his life just like that.
He just couldn't. . .
Even though his ears had picked up the large amount of desperation coating Yeonjun's voice, there was no effect on Eclipse's attitude. The words of the distressed 20-year old had only entered through one ear and exited out the other. He didn't care if the new abominations of the old Elementals were slightly close to Yeonjun. In fact, he couldn't care less about the impact it would make on Yeonjun to be forced to kill them.
After all. . . Yeonjun had been the one to get himself into this mess for trusting a cat with a deranged look on its face.
"Yeah, yeah." Eclipse rasped his tongue between his claws, an annoyed expression pasted onto his face as his lip curled. "They're your dumb friends, and you're madly in love with one of them," He scratched himself behind the ear and finally let out a purr. "I'm sure you can get new ones~."
Oh, the fucking audacity this cat had.
Those four boys meant so much to Yeonjun, yet that cat talked about them as if they were chess pieces that needed to be thrown off his wicked checkboard.
All of the things Yeonjun had gone through without them. . .
The cold nights Yeonjun had spent weeping while wondering if they were still alive after he'd escaped.
The guilt of thinking he'd abandoned them after his accidental escape to that island which hid a curse behind a mask of perfection.
