Taehyung moved between the trees, his striped fur fluffed up against the cold night's breeze as he padded between the undergrowth. The scent of the ocean filled his nose and the sound of waves crashing against one another made his ears twitch from time to time.

There was still a pain in his chest and the knives that once cut through him were digging themselves deeper and deeper into him.

It all started once again when Beomgyu mentioned a ceremony. Taehyung hadn't wished to have such an aggressive outburst, but the mention of that special event was enough to trigger his memories and the pain that came alongside them.

A broken bond was one of the few things that Taehyung wouldn't wish upon anyone, not even to his enemies. Broken bonds were rare in the tribes, they only happened when a creature's mate died. . . But the pain of losing your mate along with having your soul scarred was something not many could survive.

Some creatures would die within three days of their mate's passing, while others just lost their sanity and went crazy thinking that their partner was still alive. There was no escape either way if you survived the pain or not. . . The scars would linger and so would the knives.

And the knives that poked through Taehyung were still present. He regretted his decision on breaking his bond. . . If he had listened to the warnings of not messing around with the only one he couldn't have. Or if he had walked away from the moon's child when he had the chance. . . Maybe their destinies would've been different.

Taehyung let out a sigh. He was still in love but what could he do? Jungkook wouldn't accept him, not after everything that happened between them and their tribes.

As Taehyung directed himself towards the shore, the sound of laughter and giggles could be heard. One of them sounded extremely familiar too.

Taehyung hid between the undergrowth near the beach when he saw two youngsters. They were running all around hand in hand as if there were no worries in their own little world. Their hanboks were the colors of blue and orange and that's when Taehyung was able to recognize them.

"Let's run away together!" Beomgyu exclaimed holding Yeonjun's hands between his. "Forget about the tribes and stupid conflicts. Let's discover our own island and make it ours!" The younger of the two giggled and held Yeonjun close. "Just imagine it. . . you, me with no Taehyung or Jungkook to tear us apart."

Yeonjun let out a chuckle, he hugged Beomgyu and rested his chin on top of his head which was decorated with a flower crown. "Run away. . . What about the others? We can't leave them alone, they'll set the place on fire on accident."

"Don't worry about them, we'll take them with us!" Beomgyu giggled once more and snuggled his face against Yeonjun's chest, his nose filling up with the older's earthy scent. "It'll be the five of us alone. No one else."

The two lovers held each other tightly. They had sunk into their own world, not even the slight sound of the wind or the crashing of waves could make them snap out of the perfect paradise that was each other's embrace.

But by showing off their affections like that, it only made Taehyung's mind go back to a past he had been trying to forget. . .

A dark yet glittery cloak covered the sky as clouds sent by the moon's successor covered the nightly king, abstracting his vision of a rather unwanted nightly meeting.
