Chapter 64

"Daddy...is that you?" Melanie questioned. "Yes, it's me! Of course, it's me!" Carlos said. Melanie jumped up and wrapped her arms around his neck. "Daddy!" She exclaimed. Carlos' eyes fell on an unconscious Mal. He crawled over to her. "Mal? Mal, wake up." He questioned and started to shake her. "Daddy, you did that," Melanie tells her father.
Carlos looked at his daughter. "What?" He said in confusion. "The mean lady put a spell on you, and not the ones Mommy puts on you sometimes," Melanie explained. Carlos gently shook Mal again. "Mal, baby, wake up. Please, wake up." He begged her. Mal's eyes slowly fluttered open. Carlos let out a relieving sigh. He helped her sit up again, putting his hand on her lower back. "No...no let me go," Mal said weakly.
"Baby, it's me," Carlos tells her. "Carlos? Y-you're back?" She asked him. "Back? I never left, baby, I just fell asleep. What are we doing in the dungeons exactly?" He asked her. "Y-you don't remember anything?" She questioned. Carlos shook his head. "No, what are you talking about?" He asked.
Mal put her hand on his shoulder. "Carlos, Audrey put a spell on you a couple of weeks ago, the same spell my mother once used on me," Mal tells him. "What are you saying? That I was some kind of possessed villain?" He questioned. Mal tried to avoid eye contact with him. "I was?" He asked as his eyes widened. "Sadly, yes," Mal answered. Carlos runs his hand through his hair. "Well, I didn't hurt anyone right?" He asked. Mal sighed.
"You killed Gaye." She tells him. His eyes widened. "W-what?" He stuttered. "You killed her, locked up my dad and Uma, and just a second ago you were choking me to death." She tells him. The more he thought about it, the more he started to remember.

He then let his eyes glow red before pushing the knife he was holding, which she didn't see, into her back. He covered her mouth as she screamed. He then dropped her on the floor. Gaye glanced up at him. "
Y-you're not the Carlos I know." She said. Carlos smirked and crouched next to her. "He's gone. Don't worry, no one knows yet." He tells her and he wipes the blood off the knife. "W-why are you d-doing this?" Gaye asked him.
"You know too much, little one. I can't have you ruin the fun for me. If you tell anyone about Scarlett, everything will be ruined. And that would make me very angry, and we don't want that now do we?" He tells her as he stood up,
"Does anyone else know?" He asked her. Gaye shook her head as the tears streamed from her eyes. "Good." He said. "You're...a-a.. a monster," Gaye said between breaths.
Carlos smirked at her. "No, little one, I'm a villain. And you said it yourself, never trust anyone. Especially not a villain." He said. "Y-you w-won't win this f-fight." She tells him.
He smiled at her and crouched down again. "Little one, I have already won," he said and slammed the knife into her back again. She could no longer scream. She let out a sigh before closing her eyes. 

He remembered pushing the knife into her. He remembered watching her suffer and cry out in pain. He remembered enjoying it. Carlos glanced down at his lap.
"I'm a monster." He said quietly. Melanie hugged his arm as tightly as she could. Mal scooted closer to him as well and shook her head. "You're not a monster. Audrey did it." She assures him. But Carlos shook his head.
"No...it wasn't. I was threatened by her. I killed her...oh no, what about Gil? And Harry? Uma?" He asked her. "They were furious, but they knew it wasn't you. No matter what you were thinking, you never could've done it." She tells him. 

A while later, Mal and Carlos sat in the huge kitchen where they waited for their friends to arrive. Carlos was rather nervous. Mal noticed and grabbed his hand, squeezing it slightly. The door opened and Evie stepped inside.
As soon as her eyes fell on Carlos, she started to smile. She walked towards him and opened her arms. Carlos gladly hugged her back. He glanced over her shoulders to see Jay, Uma, Harry, and Gil walking in. He hugged Jay and Uma, but when he came to Harry and Gil it was kind of awkward.
The two pirates glanced at each other before pulling him into a bro hug. "Glad to have you back, little man," Gil tells him. "Guys, I am so sorry about Gaye. If you want to punch me or something... get it over with. Come on." He tells them. Harry chuckled at him. "We don't wanna hurt you, mate.
She's gone now...but so is Audrey. Auradon will take good care of her. We're just glad we didn't lose you too." Harry tells him. Carlos smiled at them. "Thanks, guys. I'm glad you're back as well." He tells them. 
He then turned back to the others. "So, is there anything else I missed? I hope I didn't miss the wedding." He said. Evie and Jay shook their heads. "You didn't, but Mal has something to tell you," Evie said and glanced at her friend. Carlos looked at her. "What's up?" He asked her. Mal gave him a bright smile and puts her hand over her stomach. Carlos's eyes widened. "Y-you...pregnant?" He stuttered and stepped closer to her. Mal nodded and pecked his lips. "Seems like something good came out of it after all," Mal tells him. "I thought you already told him that. What about his dad? Isn't that big news?" Jay asked Mal. Carlos' eyes widened again. "My dad's here?" He questioned. "Jay, you ruined the surprise!" Mal complained.
