(4 months later)
Scott and I have gone on a couple dates and I'm not gonna lie he is very nice.
"Sophia?" I heard someone's voice say breaking me out of my thoughts. I looked up to see Gabby.
"Yeah?"
"Tell me how your date went last night?"
"It went fine."
"Your lying about something I can tell."
I blushed.
"If you must know, he kissed me."
"What!" She exclaimed.
"Excuse me bartender can you get me another drink please?" Someone asked from down the bar.
"You better go get that Gabby."
"Alright, but your giving me more details when I get back."
"I will." I said with a laugh.
I felt someone tap my shoulder and so I turned around. I was met with Scott.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked him with a smile on my face.
"I came to see you."
"Well hello." I said pressing a kiss to his lips.
"I actually wanted to ask you something."
"What's up?"
"Do you want to make thing official between us?" He asked me.
I smiled.
"Sure." I said before kissing him again.
"I hate to cut things short but I have to go, I have to stop by my ex-husbands apartment." He sent me a look.
"I just have to drop something off my kids are there."
"Oh alright, I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye." I payed for my beer and walked out to my car.

I knocked on the door of Jays apartment.
I saw Hailey's face when she opened the door. Her and Jay had been dating for about five or six months now.
"Hey what's up?" She asked with a smile on her face.
"I just have something to drop off for Jay, can I come in?"
"Yeah of course." She said moving out of the way.
"Hi mom!" Ben yelled from the couch.
"Hi Ben." I looked around the room for Shay and Jay but I couldn't see them.
"Where's your Dad and sister?" I asked Ben.
"They're in Shay's room." He answered me.
I nodded and walked over to Shays room. I saw Jay sitting on the bed talking to her. He looked up at the sound of my footsteps.
"If you don't believe me, why don't you ask your mom?" I raised my eyebrows.
"Ask me what?"
"Mommy, is there monsters in my closet?"
I walked over to the closet and opened the door so she could see into the closet itself.
"See there's no monsters."
"I told you. Now do you believe me?"
She nodded.
"Alright get some sleep. I love you." He said giving her a kiss on the head.
"I love you Shay goodnight." I added before following him out of her bedroom.
"Here." I said placing a piece of paper onto his kitchen table.
"What's this?" He asked picking up the paper.
"It's for career day for Bens school tomorrow, if your coming you have to fill out the paper. I already filled mine out."
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" He asked beginning to fill out the paper.
I looked over to Ben.
"Your son, told me that he told you. Two weeks ago."
"He's your son when he lies."
I rolled my eyes at Jay.
"Are you coming or not?" I asked.
"Yeah I'll come."
"Alright I'll see you tomorrow."
"Alright bye."
"Bye Ben. Stop lying."
"Bye mom!"
I laughed and went home.

(The next day.)
I pulled into the parking lot of the school and parked next to Stellas car. Kelly and Stella were parked next to Gabby and Matt. Ironically Ben, Sage, Amanda, and Bailey are all in the same class.
"Hey." I said getting out of my car.
"Hey, where's Jay?" Kelly asked getting out of his.
"He should be here soon." I said before opening the backseat of Stellas car.
"Hows my favorite twins?" I asked Amanda and Bailey.
"We're good!" Amanda answered.
"Good."
"Hey Jays here." I heard Kelly say.
I walked over to his truck.
"Hi Ben."
"Hi Mom."
"Go see your cousins." I said getting him out of his car seat.
"Is Hermann and Boden still coming with the rigs?" Jay asked me. Bodens son was a grade or two above Ben, but he was having career day too, so Boden was bringing the rigs to the school for the kids to look at.
"Alright come on Ben." I said as he lead Jay as I too our classroom. I watched all the kids pile into their seats including Amanda, Ben, Bailey, and Sage.
"Alright, good morning class!" The teacher said siting at her desk.
"As you all know today is career day! We're gonna go in alphabetical order so you all can tell us what your parents do for a living!"
She's enthusiastic.
Once it was Bens turn Jay and I walked to the front of the room with him.
I had a CFD shirt on with my work pants and my radio over my chest. I thought it was pretty obvious what my job was but then again I was standing in front of a bunch of 6 and 7 year olds. Ben held up a paper and started reading. He wasn't the best reader but for his age he was pretty good.
"My moms name is Sophia. She is a firefighter. My dads name is Jay. He's a detective." Ben read and than looked up to me.
"Well I'm not just a firefighter." I started.
"I am the lieutenant, which means I'm the boss of people." I saw a couple kids mouth the word "woah"
"I also was a doctor in Afghanistan in the war. And I was also a paramedic."
"What are you addressed as?" The teacher asked.
"I'm Lieutenant Sophia Severide."
"What is it like being a woman in charge of a bunch of men?"
"It was hard at first but a girl can do anything."
I said earning smiles.
Ben looked up to Jay.
"I'm a detective in the Chicago Police Department, more specifically the Intelligence Unit."
We talked about our jobs for a little bit longer than everyone else went. The last two too go were Amanda and Bailey. After Kelly and Stella talked about their jobs at 51, we went outside to where Boden already was waiting with his son and Matt and Gabbys son next to the rigs.
"Are these actual fire trucks?" One of the kids asked.
"Yes, they are." Stella answered.
While the kids were looking at the rigs I heard my radio cackle to life.
"This is firehouse 76 to main, requesting backup. Code black." I heard the address.
"Chief! Did you hear that?" He nodded.
"Are we going? It's five minutes down the street." Casey said. I looked to my right where I heard a big boom and a huge cloud of black smoke rise. There was a code black which means a bomb threat at a hospital down the street.
"Let's go people!"
"What's going on?" Jay asked before I got on the rig.
"Code black at the hospital down the street."
"Alright, I'll follow you guys, I'll call for backup." I nodded.
I waved to Ben before getting onto the rig. We drove to the scene where people of all kinds were running out of the building- patients, children, doctors, nurses. All of them.
"Squad 3, and Truck 81, search and rescue." Boden instructed us.
"Gallo, with me!" I said to him.
"Where was the bomb?" I asked a doctor as we walked in.
"The Peds floor."
"What floor is that?"
"The 8th." I nodded.
"Who the hell bombs a floor full of sick kids?" Gallo asked.
"Monsters." I answered. We made our way up too the 8th floor using the stairs where there was kids and doctors covered in black smoke.
"Everyone listen! I'm a firefighter and you all need to get out of here! Follow me!" A firefighter from a different house yelled directing people out. The rest of the firefighters that were on the floor at the time started going door to door to look for hurt patients.
Gallo and I tried getting into one of the patients rooms but we couldn't.
"Watch out." Gallo said before shoulder barging the door open.
"Fire department call out!" I yelled.
"There's nobody in here."
We went to walk out but something caught my eye.
"Gallo wait!"
I knelt down and looked under the bed to find a little girl hiding.
"Hey, honey can you crawl out for me?"
She hesitated for a minute but then crawled out for me.
I picked her up.
"Come on let's get out of here."
"Nice eye lieutenant." Gallo said as he followed me back down the stairs.
I smiled at him.
_
We reached the ambulance. It was the ambulance from firehouse 34.
"Hi Savannah, Hi Joe."
"Hey Lieutenant, who do you got here?" Savannah asked reaching for the girl. She just hugged in closer to me.
"I'm not really sure, she never told me her name." I tried setting her down, but she wouldn't let go.
"Don't leave! Please!"
"Okay, I won't leave if you promise to let my friend check you out?" She nodded.
"Alright. So what's your name?" I asked her while Savannah checked her out.
"Lilly."
"Well hello, Lilly I'm Sophia, and this is Savannah."

After Savannah cleared her, I went to a doctor and found out that she was in the foster system, so we waited until the social worker came.
"Alright Lilly, It's time it's time to say goodbye." Her social worker, Julie said.
"Bye Lilly." I said before watching her go into the car.
"Thank you for taking care of her today."
"Anytime. So she's gonna be put back in the system till they can find a home for her?"
"Unfortunately that's how it works."
I thought for a minute.
"What if I fostered her, just until you can find a good home?"
"Lieutenant, I don't think that's a great idea. Your a firefighter, your not married."
"I have two kids. If I can take care of them and make a living I can take care of her, and besides I think I have a good family for her. You just have to give me time."
She hesitated for a minute.
"Alright, I'll stop by your firehouse after your shift, and you can sign the paperwork and take her home." I nodded.

I finished signing the paper work and said bye to the social worker. I found out that Lilly was four years old.
After picking up Ben and Shay from daycare and school.
"Alright, Lilly this is Ben and Shay." They played for a little bit and then after i set up the guest bedroom they went to bed. This will be hard but like I told the social worker I think I have a family that would adopt her. Let's just hope they do.
