Labor And Delivery

Before I start this chapter I just wanted to thank everyone who's read this book especially Sarah06W and Mmcneil17 they have voted for almost every chapter and every time I post a new chapter I get the notification that they voted for it so I just wanted to say thank you

*Flashback*

"Jay my due date is in a week you can't go undercover for two weeks straight."
"Sophia I'm sorry I have no choice." He held my face in his hands.
"I will be back before the baby is born. I feel it."
"Jay the baby can come early and you know that! What am I supposed to do if I go into labor and your not here?"
"Sophia not only were you a doctor in the field but you were also a paramedic. Will is a doctor, you will be fine."
"That's not the point you ass." I slapped him on the shoulder.
"You know what whatever, just please stay safe." I said running my fingers through my hair.
"I will I promise."
He grabbed his bag and walked out the door.
"Bye I love you."
"Bye Jay."
*end of flashback*
Jay has been undercover for four days and I'm scared I'm gonna have the baby and he's not gonna be here. Stella has been staying with me incase I go into labor but still.
I was sitting at my kitchen island eating breakfast when I heard footsteps.
"Ok Sophia I'm going to work."
"Ok."
Stella walked out the door.
I placed my hand on my stomach
"Well then I guess it's just me and you little man. I should probably pack my hospital bag."
I walked over to my bedroom and grabbed a duffel bag. I then grabbed a couple maternity dresses and a couple pair of sweatpants and sweatshirts and a couple other things.
I went into my bathroom and grabbed my toothbrush, hairbrush, toothpaste, and a couple things for Jay.
I walked over to the babies nursery and grabbed a couple onesies, some socks, and the car seat.
I put my bag on the kitchen island and went out to my car to put the car seat in.
After strapping the seat in my car I went back inside to get something to eat.

"I should go to the firehouse. I haven't been there in a while." So that's what I did I got in my car and drove to the firehouse.
"Hey Severides back!" Hermann said
"Hey!"
He came over and gave me a hug.
"What are you doing here?"
"Well I haven't been here in a while thought I should come say hi."
"Well it's good to see you."
I went to find Gabby and she was in the kitchen getting something.
"Hey!" She came over and gave me a hug.
"Hey."
"How are things?"
"Great. The baby is ready to come any day now."
"That's great."
I flinched in pain.
"Are you ok?"
"Yeah it's probably just the baby kicking."
I flinched in pain again this time it was worse.
"Nope not the baby kicking. I'm having contractions."
"Ok relax it could just be Braxton Hicks."
My water broke.
"Nope not Braxton Hicks my water just broke."
I flinched in pain again.
Gabby grabbed my arm to help me stand up straight.
"Brett I need your help."
She ran over and grabbed my other arm.
As we were walking to the ambulance Gabby stopped to tell Chief something. He was surrounded by the rest of 51 so they are gonna know too,
"Chief can you take 61 out of service Sophias going into labor."
"Yeah of course. Good luck Sophia!"
"Thank you."
They helped me into the ambulance and Gabby got into the back of it.
"Ok I'm gonna call Antonio and see if they can get ahold of Jay."
"Ok." I started to calm my breathe

We got to med and instantly Will and Natalie bombarded me.
"Is everything ok?"
"How's the baby?"
"Everything is fine." I reassured them.
"Sophia everything is not fine your going into labor."
"Gabby I was trying to keep them calm."
"Your going into labor? Where's Jay?" Will asked.
"I have no clue."
"Well come on let's get you checked out hopefully the baby can wait until Jay gets here." Natalie said
"Yeah hopefully."
Natalie helped me into a room and she put an iv in my hand.
She got the ultrasound machine.
"You know the drill this is gonna be cold."
She put the gel on and then the wand from the machine.
"Ok so good news. The baby isn't breached so you don't need a c-section."
I let out a breath of air I didn't know I was holding in when she said that.
"Alright I need to check how dilated you are."
I flinched in pain as another contraction hit.
"Okay so Sophia your 3 centimeters dilated. It looks like your gonna be here for a bit."
Brett grabbed my hand. Gabby was off somewhere getting Antonio to try to get a hold of Jay.
Gabby walked in.
"They can't get a hold of him, his phone is off. They are gonna keep trying though." I nodded

3 hours later I was still in pain and there was no sign of Jay.
Natalie had just gotten finished checking me out.
"Sophia your 6 centimeters dilated. How far apart are your contractions?"
"They are 5 minutes apart."
"Alright."
"Natalie can I please eat something?"
"No but you can have ice chips."
"I'll get them." Gabby said
Brett went to the 21st to see what she could find out with Jay.
"Thanks."
After Natalie and Gabby left I heard a small knock at my door.
"Come in."
It was Adam Ruzek and Kim Burgess.
"Hey how you feeling?" Adam asked
"I'd feel a lot better if Jay was here."
"That's what we came to talk to you about."
Kim said.
I honestly felt a little scared when she said that. You never know what could happen in the life of a cop. They could be here to tell me that he is dead.
"Is everything alright?"
"Yeah. We got a hold of him, but he's like 2 hours away."
"Oh you have got to be kidding me. At least he's on his way." I flinched in pain again.
They both walked out and Natalie and Will walked in.
"How you doing?"
"Oh I don't know how does it look like i'm doing Will?"
"Alright good to see your still yourself."
"While you two are here I might as well as you since Jay isn't here yet. Do you guys want to be his godparents?"
"I would love to."
"Me too."
"Great."

2 hours later.
The pain was horrible.
"Okay Sophia your fully dilated you are gonna have to give birth."
"I can't not without Jay."
"Sophia I'm sorry but you can't wait any longer. This baby can't wait any longer."
"Natalie I need Jay."
"I'm right here." I looked to the doorway and saw Jay walking over to my side.
"Oh thank God."
"Okay Sophia on the count of 3 I need you to push."
I nodded.
"1,2,3"
I pushed. Hard. And it hurt like hell.
"Ok I see the top of the head. Breath and then push again."
"Your doing great Sophia."
I took a deep breath and then pushed.
"I see the head give me another push."
I pushed again
"Ahhh!"
"I see the shoulders. Give me another big push."
"Ahhh!"
I pushed again.
"One more big push Sophia!"
I pushed one more time. And then everything was silent until I heard the tiny cries of a baby.
"You did it beautiful. The baby is here." Jay turned my head towards him and I gave him a kiss.
"I did it."
Natalie snipped the umbilical cord and then I was handed a little bundle of warmth.
"Hi baby."
I let him grab my finger.
"So any names yet?" Will asked
"No not yet."
Natalie checked me out.
"Ok everything looks good so we are gonna give you guys some privacy."
Jay wrapped his arm around me and the baby.
"Sophia this moment. This moment right here is perfect."
I smiled up at him.
"I love you so much Jay. I love you so much too baby."
