"Hurry up in there, the auction is going to start soon!" a loud knock on the bathroom door shook me out of my daze. I sat in the bath, the water almost cold from the amount of time I had spent sitting in there. It trickled down my body as I got out and dried off. My long black hair dripped water droplets onto the floor as wrapped a fluffy white towel around it.
I let the water out of the bath and pulled the white dress they had given me over my head. As I looked into the mirror that hung on the wall I noticed my cheekbones were hollower than when I had last looked at myself. Well, the food they gave out at The Brotherhood wasn't even a lot in the first place. Being an auction candidate was seen as being royalty there. It was a way out, freedom...at least that is what I hoped for.
"I said hurry up!!!" One of the brothers kicked the door open and dragged me out by my hair. My eyes watered with the pain. "When I say hurry up it means you have to be out within seconds not minutes. The auction starts soon."

My heartbeat fast in my chest as I was dragged onto the stage. Crowds of pale-faced vampires stared at me with unsettling focus. I saw them take me in and sniff the air, smelling the sweet scent of blood. The brother had cut down the inside of my forearm as he had with all of the auction candidates. Apparently, those with sweeter blood often went higher than others. The blood trickled down my arm and my fingers. I had the unfortunate gift of having to be the first to be auctioned off.
"Now up first we have a real beauty, sweet blood as well. She's 11 5'1, blood type AB-negative. Can I get a starting bid of 50 gold?" the auctioneer said from his podium. One vampire raised their hand and my thoughts began to trail off, not really paying attention to what was going on around me. What if being sold didn't really mean freedom? What if it meant I would be trapped, a walking blood bag for whatever vampire bought me? Cold sweat trickled down my back.
I didn't even notice when the door was kicked open and people with weapons filled the room attacking the vampires. Screams rang in my ear and I just...stood there. As the fighting slowed to stop a woman rushed up to me her brow shiny with sweat.
"It's okay," she placed her hands on my shoulders and squeezed," your safe now." She pulled me into a hug.
