"Yuki, honestly I don't know how you scored so low that we have to tend to the ball," I huffed, arranging a rather large flower vase that was to go new the large hall doors. It held light and dark pink roses. Finally finishing, I turned around to see Yuki looking utterly defeated and tangled in peach coloured hangings. I chuckled and helped her out of it. "You're even failing at decorating."
"Rude," Yuki said standing up straight. It seems that today was the day she lost the last of her dignity. "Did you find anything to wear to the ball?
"Well I have been busy with missions and I'm really tired so I don't think I'm gonna go but I don't mind helping. Also, can we go to more of a private area, I need to talk to you about something important?"
"Erm, sure I guess." I pulled Yuki into an alcove, out of the sight of any other students.
"Can you do a favour for me?" I asked putting my hands on her shoulders.
"Depends what it is."
"You have to agree to it before I tell you."
"Fine," Yuki sighed.
"I need you to stop giving your blood to Zero."
~~~~~
It had taken a while to convince Yuki but eventually, she agreed. It seemed Zero hadn't spoken to her yet about what I told him to tell her. I fell backwards onto my bed sighing. Umi was most likely still helping decorate the hall.
"At least I get some peace and quiet for a while." I stretched out on my bed and closed my eyes.
"Akari~" Umi's voice called making me jolt upright in my bed as she kicked to door open so forcefully it almost came off its hinges. "Can you help me get ready?" She looked at me with puppy dog eyes.
"Fine," I groaned.
~~~~~
I brushed Umi's short hair, it was too short to really be styled into most hairstyles so I just clipped it out of her face.
"Aren't you going to get ready to Akari?" Umi asked swinging her legs.
"I don't really like parties, too many people," I said shaking my head. A knock sounded at the door. Umi shot up and ran over to the door, almost causing me to almost rip out the part of her hair I was brushing at the time. She opened to door and when she turned around there was a large box in her hands a note sat on top.
"To Akari Tokuma, from Kaname Kuran," Umi read out loud. I winced as she said my last name. "Go on, open it. I wanna see what's inside!" Umi held the box out to me. I took it from her and placed it on my bed. Slowly lifting the lid of the box, my eyes were greeted by a purple rose on top of a deep blue dress. Umi squealed.
~~~~~
Now it was Umi's turn to help me. She stared in awe at my long black hair, astounded at long I had been able to grow it.
"I only have it as long as this because Kisa won't let me cut it." Umi was surprisingly skilful at tying my hair up into a half-up, half-down bun.
"Can you hold your hair up for a second?" Umi asked so I did. She started taking a blue ribbon out of the box, which must have been under the dress and I froze.
"What's that for?"
"It's to go around your neck."
"I would prefer-"
"Don't say anything, it finishes off the look."
"But-" I didn't have time to finish my sentence before Umi had tied it around my neck in a bow. How was I going to last this night?
