I sat near a roaring fire, a blanket bundled around me as the woman who had hugged me earlier paced back and forth talking to a man.

"I think they were running an underground blood slave trade. Only Level C vampires where there though, no Level D or Aristocrats. It seems they tailored towards an audience that wasn't watched as closely by the Senate as others," Her hands made strange movements as if she was trying to emphasize her point with them," We're going to have to tell the Senate about his aren't we-" She groaned.

Fire light danced across the walls as she walked closer to me after the man had left. "My name is Kisa Tokuma, you're going to be living we me for a while until we can find you proper family. What's your name?" She knew led down in front of me, looking into my eyes.

"I- I don't have one..." I looked away from Kisa. They did have a name for me at The Brotherhood but it wasn't really a name, unless you call my candidate number a name.

"Well it seems I'm going to have to come up with one with you then," Kisa's eyes passed over the fire and looked back into my eyes," Akari. Yes that's it. I'll call you Akari, the brightness in the dark place that you came. Come on now." She stood up, gripping my hand in hers.

Kisa led me from the room, in the hallway we came across a silver -haired boy and a man with piercing blue eyes. "Yagari it's been a while," Kisa chatted a way with the man but the boy and I continued to stare at each other as if we were having a staring contest.

"Be careful where you go with that young one today," Yagari glanced down at me," There's a pureblood coming to talk with the President, further conversations about peace I think, " his words dripped with poison. "Come on Zero, we have to go back to training." Yagari walked away, the boy trailing behind him.

As Kisa and I continued down more and more hallways the paths seemed to blur, all identical. I didn't know how she even knew where was going. We came out into what looked like a hall almost when Kisa froze. I followed her gaze.

I realized she was looking at a beautiful brown haired boy. He couldn't be much more than two years older than me. His chocolate brown eyes locked with mine.
