The ribbon around my neck made me feel as though I was being asphyxiated. I intertwined my fingers in front of me because I was itching to untie it but I was going to have to bear it. The heat of people dancing hit me as soon I walked through the large oak doors. Ichijo and Aido were dancing with some of their fangirls. Ruka was leaning against a far wall, a sour expression on her face. Zero stood, partially concealed in an alcove in his normal Day Class uniform. I rolled my eyes and walked over to him.
"You could of at least accessorized a bit," I crossed my arms, looking at him. He was only about three inches taller than me so I have to crane my neck to look at him. Zero raised an eyebrow.
"Here," I said, pinning the purple rose that Kaname had given me to the front of his blazer. Umi had tied it into one of the many dark blue bows that adorned my dress but it didn't really add much to the outfit. I saw a look of what seemed like affection pass over Zero's face but it almost vanished instantly. I glanced back around the hall and saw Yuki walking in.
"Why don't you go ask her to dance?" I asked, nudging him with my elbow.
"Wh-what?" Zero spluttered whipping around to face me.
"Don't try to play that game with me, I know you like her." I smiled in satisfaction at Zero's back as he stormed off, probably to mope.
Umi and Arima waltzed past me and she shot me a happy smile. By the look on Arima's face, he was dragged into the dance. I watched as his limbs moved with the strange sort of grace that a trained assassin would have. Umi was also a surprisingly good dancer despite her hyper demeanour.
"Ah, you must be Akari, I am Takuma Ichijo, Vice president of the Moon dorms." I turned to look at the blond haired boy. "Dorm president Kuran would like to see you in a while. He's on the balcony." And with that Ichijo disappeared into the crowd once again.

Arima stared absentmindedly at the dance floor, a blank expression on his face. He didn't notice I was standing next to him until I poked him on his shoulder, snapping him out of his trance. He groaned when he saw it was me. "What do you want?" he asked.
"I was just going to remind you that you have to help me finish the homework we started." Arima pinched the bridge of his nose as if trying to quell a headache.
"You want this?" Arima offered me a glass of punch," I realized I couldn't have it because I'm allergic to something in it and it would be a waste to throw it away.
"Sure," I took the glass from him and almost downed it in an instant, it was to hot in the hall.
~~~~~
I sat in an empty alcove, tired and groggy. I still had to go see Kaname so I tried to stand up but as I did I well back down into the heavily cushioned seat. Arima ducked into the alcove probably trying to hide from Umi. "Arima-San, can you help me back to the dorm, I don't think I can walk properly."
"Oh, erm ok." He helped me up and slung my arm around his neck surprisingly gently. My vision blurred as we made it out of the hall. It was only when were walking out the Academy's gates that I realized we were not going to the dorms.
"Arima-San where are you going?" I tried to pull away from him but his grip was firm. "Arima!"
"Shhhhhh," he pressed a finger to my lips and I slipped into unconsciousness.
