"WHY CAN'T SHE REMEMBER?!" a shout filled the normally calm an quiet night. But that wasn't just anyone's voice. It was Umi's. Seiren's head snapped around the direction that the shout came from and then she glanced back at me. I jumped to my feet from the cold night grass, almost falling over, and took off. I didn't care if Seiren followed or not.
As I almost ran around the corner of the school building I stopped myself by grabbing onto it. Seiren's footsteps came not long after that behind me. I sucked in a breathe of shock as I saw the scene in front of me.
Umi had her head bent down, tears dripping down her chin along with what was probably snot. Moonlight turned her hair a pale silver. She grabbed onto the front of Kaname's uniform in a desperate manor. Kaname just stood there looking down at her, no emotion displayed on his face.
"We should go," Seiren whispered in my ear tugging on my arm but I snatched my arm out of her grip.
"WHY. CAN'T. SHE. REMEMBER. ANYTHING?!" With each word Umi brought her fists down on Kaname's chest.
"Why?" Umi's voice cracked as she slid down to her knees on the floor. She still grasped onto the sleeves of Kaname's uniform. I saw Kaname's like move but I couldn't make out what he was saying. I blinked and then he was gone.
Umi's small frame shook as I made my way over to do what I didn't know, comforting people wasn't exactly my fortè. "Umi what's going on?" I placed a hand on her shoulder but then she grabbed the collar of my uniform and started shaking it violently.
"WHY CAN'T YOU REMEMBER?!" Umi's chin was completely covered in tears and snot now. Seiren appeared behind Umi and raised a hand to her head. A faint glow radiated from her palm and Umi fell forward, her head on my chest. Seiren's eyes were dark.
