"Congratulations on winning the case Atty. Cervantez."

"Congrats Attorney!"

"Job well done."

As soon as the trial ended, some of my señior lawyers that I look up to congratulated me, pati nadin ang mga baguhan kong katrabaho. I never really expected I'd be appreciated by all of them. I am deeply humbled.

I awkwardly smiled. "Thank you po."

I shook hands with each and everyone of them. Hindi maalis ang ngiti sa labi nila. Labis ang paghanga ng ilan sa'kin.

"Felicity!"

I smiled. "Hey—"

I was caught off guard when he suddenly hugged me. "I knew you can do it," he said proudly

"Thank you for your help."

Kumalas siya sa yakap. Nagkatinginan kami. It felt a bit awkward so we both looked away.

"No problem. I was just doing my job," he boasted

I chuckled. "You did well too."

I'm not familiar with them but I can tell that they're lawyers for quite a long time. Halos puro matatanda din sila.

"Congratulations Attorney. I am quite astonished by your strength and courage to defend your own mother in the court...and for that, you earned my respect," the lady said

My lips parted. I didn't know what to say so I just shook her hands.

"Wow, that's a huge praise," Christian whispered beside me

I smiled awkwardly. My palms were already sweating due to nerves every time a veteran lawyer approach me. I felt intimidated but at the same time, honored.

The conversation prolonged showering me with praises and acknowledgements. I kinda want to leave right now since I have to go see my mom but I couldn't out of respect to them.

"Ah excuse me Atty. Villamonte but may I please excuse Atty. Cervantez for a moment," Christian interrupted

"Of course."

I sighed in relief. "Excuse me," I kindly said.

"Thank goodness!" I said when we left. "Sorry, it's really been a while for me to engage with many people, especially to those veteran lawyers whom I admire so much."

Marahan lang siyang tumawa.

"Well, I have to go see my mom now," paalam ko

He nodded and put his hands inside his pockets.

My eyes landed on the floor. "Thank you Christian, I really mean it."

I'm really good with words but I just want to let him know how grateful I am to have him on my side. I hope he knows that

Hindi na siya sumagot. Tumalikod na ako at nagsimulang maglakad pero bigla niya akong tinawag.

"Oh, wait, I forgot to tell you something."

I turned around and faced him again.

"There's a year end party sa firm. You can come if you want pero okay lang din kung hindi. I just think you should spend your time with your mom," he said and looked at me
