#TPTG24

2 years later...

"Congrats Fey for passing the bar exam!"

"Congratulations Felicity! We're proud of you!"

My relatived greeted me and offered a toast. I held my glass and raised it. We smiled and clinked each other's glass.

"Hindi pa din kami makapaniwala na isa ka sa mga top notcher ka sa bar exam. Ang galing mo hija."

"As expected from Fey. Hindi na ako nagulat."

I only gave them a small smile. "Thanks."

"Ano nang plano mo? Magtatrabaho ka na?"

I lowered my glass. "Yes. I actually have three job offers from law firms."

Their eyes widened in delight. "Well, that's good news! Congratulations again Fey."

"Let's eat everyone! Mahabang habang selebrasiyon ito,"  one of them said

Pinanood ko lamang sila habang kumakain.

"Fey. Kain ka na," my mom approached me holding a plate filled with food

Tumango ako at nagsimulang kumain. We were at the long table in our dining area. My mom is beside me together with my other 'relatives'. Some tables were placed at our backyard where the other guests are

"Hija. Where's your father nga pala?"

I shrugged. "I don't-"

"He's on his way mare. May trabaho kasi e," singit ni mama

Bumaba ang mata ko sa plato ko na konti palang ang nababawas.

"But this is a very special celebration. He must be here than working."

Ngumiti lamang si mama. She brought up a different topic to dismiss her from talking about the governor.

I guess some of my 'relatives' did not know the truth yet...or maybe they already know but chose to pretend. Maybe they grew fond of me that's why they didn't want to hurt my feelings. I don't know who's real or fake anymore.

After a half an hour, the governor arrived. The guests welcomed him. Binati niya sila pabalik. Pinanood ko sila habang kinakausap ang governor.

"Oh, andito na pala kayong lahat. Pasensiya na kung nalate ako. Medyo traffic," he explained and sat on the chair

"Don't worry governor. You're just in time. Kain na po kayo."

"We're proud for Felicity for passing the bar. She's a lawyer now. Malaking karangalan din ito sa pamilya natin."

The governor glanced at me. "Right. Congratulations to her," nginitian niya ulit ang mga bisita

"I hope she can enter politics too! She'll be a great leader someday. Am I right Felicity?" one of them turned her head to face me

Tipid lamang akong ngumiti. I stood up and quickly excused myself from them. I went upstairs to my room. I opened a new bottle of wine for myself. I poured some to my glass.

I placed my arms on the railings. I lifted my eyes and admired the beautiful nightsky filled with twinkling stars. Bumaba ang mata ko sa backyard. I saw the guests talking to each other.

Honestly, I don't even know half of them. Must be friends and acquaintances of the governor.
