Remember me
Though I have to say goodbye
Remember me

"I've made my decision, Ricky."

"Are you going to that school in Denver? I don't want to be the one holding you back, Neens. I just want you to be happy, it's all I really want."

"I'm going."

He had to admit his heart shattered a little, but he kept a smile pasted on his face.

"I'm happy for you."

"Ricky, this doesn't mean we're breaking up. Trust me, we are going to make this long-distance thing look easy."

"I promise to FaceTime you every single day."

She enveloped him in a warm hug, and he returned it. It made him feel slightly better, but not much.

The day she left, he waved until he couldn't see her car anymore.

He knew she'd come back for him. It wasn't as if she was going to the Hunger Games or an alternate dimension.

Remember me
Though I have to travel far
Remember me
Each time you hear a sad guitar

She didn't leave, but he did. His mom had recently called and told him and his dad that they were moving to Chicago. Ricky protested. He slammed walls. He cried.

No, he couldn't leave his life behind.

Not when his heart was here.

He just hoped that she still remembers him.

She did, she'd never forget him.

Every time someone strummed a guitar, she immediately thought about him. The songs that he wrote for her.

For even if I'm far away I hold you in my heart
I sing a secret song to you each night we are apart

Whenever she felt like she missed him too much, she went up to the roof and strummed her ukulele while looking at the stars.

"I think of you when the wind blows,
I see your face almost every night
Sure, maybe Salt Lake is not so close
But I'm still breathing you in deep..."

Ricky did the same. On his last days in SLC, he'd climb up to their treehouse and look at the stars. He'd try to find her favorite constellation, Cassiopeia. Then he'd sing to her and play his guitar, even if she was a thousand miles away.

"Every night I've been counting the days,
Cause I just want to be there when you wake up,
Denver always seems so far away,
But I hope you know that we're still close..."

It comforted them to know that they were under the same sky and were probably looking at the same stars right now. It reminded them that they weren't so far away.

They may not always be there with each other physically, but they'd always reside in each other's hearts.

Until now, all they could do was count down the days until they were in each other's arms again.

Know that I'm with you in the only way that I can be
Until you're in my arms again
Remember me

Two songs in one chapter, wow. This was kind of a filler chapter for the ones to come and one that I wanted to write.

The duet was amazing. Nini's costume designers still have not upped their game from last season.

Also, the new American Girl release was AMAZING!!! Too bad I can't buy any of them, they're WAY out of my price range.

Keep reading. Keep writing. Keep dreaming.
