You find all the best books thrifting too, if a store has a 99 cent bin full of books DC will go digging through it
I don't think he thinks he deserves to spend money on nice clothes like it's a struggle when California takes him shopping for outfits that'll bring him gender euphoria because to him it's expensive
And he wears things until they're well past the sell-by date....his old blazer literally fell apart
