I think after the death of his son, and then his wife (or whoever he married) I think Georgia was so put off of love he couldn't stand to be in it anymore.
Unfortunately for him, a sad fed boy who called him to a meeting about a virus, just needed a father figure and he stole half his heart
Double unfortunate, he ended up in a room across the hall from a soft hearted, gentle state who tasted slightly of bourbon and had an unhealthy love for his governor. He stole the other half.
