Azzalea huffed as she tried to get out of the bed. She glanced back at River, whose breathing stayed slow and even. She was trying her hardest to get up without waking the poor giant. Azzalea was sure River was just as exhausted as she was.

Her mate never stopped moving during the day and slept hard at night. River was cleaning their cave in places he didn't think Azzalea should be cleaning.

~~~~~
"It can not be good for you to breathe in this dust."
"Oh, but it was ok for me to breathe in all that smoke and be tied down by moss." Azzalea had snapped at him instantly regretting it.
River looked away from her, his jaw tensing. His female had barked at him harshly, but he wouldn't bark back. It did no good to argue with her. She was tired and sore all over. The halfling gave her no mercy and bounced around inside her stomach. He nearly passed out when he saw the outline of the baby's hand push on his mate's skin. He didn't know if it was amazing or disgusting. He felt a little of both.
"River," Azzalea held her hand out to him, "I'm sorry.. I don't understand why I'm so mad all the time. I don't mean to -"
"River and Azzalea?" He asked.
She closed her mouth and took a deep breath.
Are you still with me?
Are you happy with me?
Do you still love me?
Do you want to be here?
"River and Azzalea."
Let's move past this.
We will be ok.
I will always love you.
This is the only place I want to be.
River opened his arms prompting his female to waddle over to him. "This is all so new." He said as he pulled her closer in his embrace. He took in her scent. She smelled warm and faintly like milk. HIs mate had just recently begun to leak from her breasts. Soon.
"I just wish I could control my temper." She regretted every time she snapped at him. Every time her mouth was a little quicker than her brain and it slipped from her lips, River would look down as if she had slapped him, but he would never return the hurt. "I'm sorry."
"You're tired, my love. There is a lot going on in there." River moved her a little from him and placed his hand on her belly. He felt his halfling move slightly under his touch. If he wasn't mistaken, he kept feeling the feet towards the top of his mates stomach. Head down. The halfling was running out of room and didn't move nearly as much as it used to.
Azzalea shook her head. "That's no excuse." She let a tear slip. She felt awful. This Giant took care of her, provided for her in every way she needed, and was always so sweet.
River didn't know how to ease her guilt. He may have taken it personal at the time she spoke it, but at the end of the day Azzalea was his mate and he loved her entirely. "Come love, let's finish our work." He rubbed his hands over her back and felt her relax. They stayed like this until Azzalea moved.
They were busy.
River wanted everyone to have their own certain place in the cave and he was grateful their home was huge and had many different twists and turns. You could go down one cavern and end up where you started or you could go down another and be lost for days. River marked the paths with paint for Azzalea. The last thing he wanted was for her to get turned around. If she followed the paint, eventually she would find her way back to the front of their cave.
Azzalea loved it the more they explored together. She found it interesting that the cave wasn't cold or drafty until they reached a huge opening. River had to move a boulder that kept it blocked off. From what she could see from the torch river held, it was beautiful. They had a secret lake. The water was a blue-green tint and it was so clear, Azzalea could see the bottom.
Rover shook his head. "This place always scared me." He chuckled. "You never know what could be in the water."
Azzalea couldn't help but laugh. "My Giant? Afraid of the water?" She took his arm. "Poor River."
He nodded his head back to the entrance. "Come, you are not dressed from this chilly area."
~~~~~

They had cleared out a little section of the cave for Briar and another section for themselves. Azzalea could tell it hurt River to be going through his parents' things and had insisted they take breaks, but he refused.

River held each item up to the light of the fire and he could recall each memory.

Once they had moved their cozy nest back into a private little cavern, they fixed Briar up a place. Azzalea kept wearing herself out, wanting it to be absolutely perfect.

Now as she struggled to get out of her nest, she regretted moving their bed away from the entrance.

Azzalea had decided she was going to make the front entrance their living and dining room. They could all be together, but still maintain privacy.

River opened his eyes and looked to Azzalea as she tried to stifle her groan. He held back his chuckle. The poor female was struggling hard. "Fawn, are you alright."

She shook her head and let out a sigh. "No." She couldn't help but giggle. "I need to pee and I didn't know how I was going to move that rock, but I just.... I just wanted you to sleep."

River hopped up from the warm furs and held his hands out to Azzalea, lifting her from the hole she had worked herself into. "My love. Don't strain yourself no more than you have to."

Azzalea's eyes grew wide and looked up to River.

He had felt the gush hit his feet.

"River, I -"

"No don't worry about it Fawn. You can not help it. I will clean it up."

"No, I didn't pee."

River looked to her with suspicion. "What do you mean you did not? You do not have to lie." He chuckled. "We have been through much worse."

Azzalea shook her head and felt her stomach tighten. "I... I think my water broke."

Still confused, River cupped her face. "I don't understand."

"I think the baby is coming."
