Chapter 25

James P.O.V.

I woke up very late this morning. I turned and saw that Ed had already left and his bed was made. I had a really rough night. Stephanie hadn't eaten dinner so I had to serve her whatever was left in the kitchen. Also, she had this strange desire to eat dinner on the terrace. After she was done, I bid her goodnight and tried to sleep but I could hardly sleep and now it's 8:00 am. I was already two hours late for practice. Then a sudden thought hit me that we had no practice today, we had to discuss the tactics to kill Antonio Lane.

I got out of bed, got ready, and raced downstairs. I went straight to the office and opened the door and collided with Stacy. I helped her and she left. By now all attention was on me anyways. Everyone(except Ava) was standing in respect with their fists on their hearts. I nodded and walked to Lucas. He signaled everyone to sit down and get back to work. 

"Where's Grandpa?", I asked.

"With Hugo and Lord Patrick. He had some work to do.", He replied.

I nodded and scanned the room. Two men were scanning through some files for information. Ava was punching staple pins on a wooden desk. Ed was standing with Jason and they both were explaining something to Stephanie. Stephanie was sure attentive and attractive too. She didn't look like she hadn't had much sleep whereas I looked like a man deprived of sleep.

 Lucas called my name and I turned and saw him standing with Stacy who was holding a file in her hand. She gave it to me. I opened the file and saw photos of mansions, warehouses(like the one of Patrick Torrio who I killed), boats, etc.

"They all belong to Antonio. We have to destroy all of them.", Lucas said.

"He owns so much.", I asked in disbelief.

"Huh, come on James. That's not even half of what you own.", Lucas whispered slowly.

I looked at him as if he had gone mad. I never imagined so much wealth, all for myself. 

"Are you serious.", I asked him.

"Yes, my king. James, your father was a very rich king. One of the strongest and richest kings the mafia ever knew. Your uncle or my Lord John was no exception.", He said.

I nodded silently. Then Lucas and I finalized teams of men to take over Antonio's property. After hours of selections, we retired for lunch. Stephanie, Ed, and Ava too joined us. After lunch, I decided to talk to Stephanie. 

I went to her and said as she was texting someone, "Hi."

I must have startled her because she dropped her phone. I picked it up and gave it to her.

"Hi, you startled me.", She said.

"Yeah, I guessed that.", I replied.

Now we both stood in silence looking at each other. Then we both heard a loud explosion. I looked at her and she nodded. I pulled out my pistol and she pulled out her dagger. We both ran towards the lawn from where we had heard the explosion. The sound was getting louder. We reached down and saw........

We saw Ed practicing how to throw a grenade. The lawn was so big and far from the mansion that it wasn't destroying or killing anything or anyone(unless Ed threw it wrong, which could be a big problem).

An M67 grenade has a kill radius of 5m and a casualty radius of 15m. But the grenade shrapnel can be very dangerous. I had once read this in a book on weapons that Lucas gave me. 

"Ed, what are you doing?", Stephanie yelled.

"I bet you can see what he is doing.", I muttered.

"Shut up.", Stephanie yelled at me.

"Ed stop.", She yelled again.

"Why, can't you see I am practicing.", Ed said as he opened another grenade and threw it far.

"Ed, stop now.", I commanded.

He stopped. Wow, He obeyed me. Stephanie looked at me like I just used charm to speak. 

"Why did he listen only to you?", She was livid.

"Isn't it obvious, because I am the king", I replied?

"No, it is because I was tired.", Ed said, disappointing me.

"Great, let's go up now.", Stephanie said as she left us and went up. I too followed her upstairs.

Upstairs, Grandpa was waiting for us and from the look on his face, I could tell that something had happened.......
