3 Years Later

It has been 3 years. 3 years since I and Stephanie left home to track Ivan Volkovich. We went to Prague. We found nothing there. There were a few clues. Most of them were dead ends. One led us to Rome. We stayed in Rome for 2 months before we had to go to Lisbon. So, after Lisbon, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Venice, we landed finally in Florence. Uncle John told us that we were going to stay here for a while so we bought a small flat here. Time flies.

I stood by the window this morning, thinking about our life in the past 2 years. I had grown tall. I was almost above 6 feet. I had been working with my body. I had built a strong body. 6 packs. Stephanie too had grown tall. She was somewhat 5'9. We both had learned Italian. It was spoken all over Europe. I knew Italian well and Stephanie had learned Spanish.

I was thinking when the door flew open and Stephanie stepped in. She removed her overcoat and scarf.

"I bought some groceries. You're cooking today.", She said. I nodded.

Then suddenly, my phone buzzed. We both froze. I dashed and picked up my phone. There was a message-

New lead- Via dei Benci, 33, R, 50122 Firenze FI. Red Garter Bar. My man will meet you there. The code is Hamburgers. Good luck Jamie and Steph -JH

We both read the message together. JH meant John Harvey. I dashed into the washroom and took a shower as Stephanie began to fix breakfast. I got dressed quickly. I grabbed a grey overcoat and a brown hat. Stephanie grabbed her own overcoat and scarf. Then she checked her dagger and opened a drawer next to our bed and tossed me my pistol. I caught it and checked the magazine. We both then quickly locked and walked downstairs.

"Are we taking a taxi, or are we going to walk or are you going to steal a bike.", Steph asked.

"I am going for option three.", I said as I saw a man parking his bike near us. I walked to him and spoke in Italian, "Salve, signore, avrò Bisogno Della sua bici."(Hi, sir, I am going to need your bike)

He replied in anger, "Sei arrabbiata. Va via" (Are you mad. Go away.)

I smiled and looked at Steph, who nodded. I punched that man and he got knocked out cold. I took out a sorry note from my pocket and kept it on his chest and took his bike.

After a 15 minute ride, we were here. We got in. There weren't many people. An old man sat in a corner. He was reading a newspaper. He was our guy. I could guess that easily. I walked and took a seat next to him.

He looked at me and spoke in English, "What is the code?"

"Hamburgers.", I told him.

He smiled and said, "JH always chooses weird codes."

I nodded and said, "To business, I need information about him."

"Him? Who? Say the name?", He asked in confusion.

"He doesn't need to be named.", I said.

"Oh", He said, understanding, "There is news that he will be here three days later."

I nodded. He gave me an envelope and got up and left.

We both also exited from the bar. I was gonna take the bike when I noticed a few men looking at us from different directions.

"We walk.", I told Steph who nodded in agreement.

We began to walk to our street. They began to follow us. Now, I was in no mood to turn a heavily populated street in the morning into a battleground, so we did what was obvious. We ran.

They too chased us. We kept on running. We saw a narrow lane and we turned. Stephanie had drawn her dagger and I had pulled out my gun. They ran past us without noticing us. We were relieved. We were about to leave when we heard a voice.

"James Harvey and Stephanie Castellano.", a heavy, masculine voice spoke from above us. We looked up and saw.......
