Summary: Javier is out on a raid when Baby Pena decides to come into the world.

Anabelle was at her desk when a shadow fell over her. She looked up and smiled at Javier.

"How are you feeling today?" Javier asked.

Anabelle leaned back in her chair and stroked her stomach. "Been kicking up a storm."

"Still think it's a girl?"

"I know it's a girl."

To most people it would look like Javier was checking on his co-worker to see how she doing, but only the higher-ups knew.

Anabelle had confessed that Javier was the father of her baby and the backlash had been pretty bad. After she had the baby, she would be transferred back to the States.

Javier had been furious, but Anabelle had been able to calm him down. When he caught Escobar, he could follow her. He'd worked too hard to get to this point to throw it all away. Javier had been the one to tell Steve and he wasn't surprised.

Javier opened his mouth to say something when Steve walked up.

"Peña. We think we've got something."

"Go," Anabelle told him, "We'll be okay."

"You'll page me if anything happens, right?"

"Yes, Javi. Now go. We're not going anywhere."

Javier wanted to lean down and kiss her more than anything. He sighed and pushed off her desk to follow Steve.

"Hey, you and Ana okay?" Steve asked.

"Everything's so fucking complicated right now. The baby will be here any day and that means I'm gonna lose her. Do you know how hard I had to fight to get paternity leave?"

The powers that be didn't want to lose their best agent this close to catching Escobar.

"Have you two even talked about that night?" Steve asked.

Javier shook his head.

"Jesus, Javi. You two are about to have a fucking kid together!"

"I know alright! I just...I don't know." Javier scrubbed at his face with his hands.

Steve patted him on the shoulder. "Welcome to fatherhood, man."

Javier and Steve had been gone for about an hour when Anabelle felt a sharp pain in her stomach. She hissed and rubbed at the spot. They were probably just false labor pains. She still had two and a half weeks till her due date.

About 15 minutes later, she felt it again. She picked up her phone and dialed Connie at the hospital.

"Murphy."

"Connie!"

"Ana? What's wrong? Is it the baby?"

"I...I think so. I'm..." She let out a loud cry and felt something wet gush down her legs. "Connie..."

Connie could hear the fear in Anabelle's voice. "Okay. Stay at the Embassy. I'm coming to get you, sweetie. Just hold on." She hung up the phone and Anabelle grabbed for her pager. She just hoped Javier had his on him.

Connie arrived and helped her into her car.

As they drove to the hospital, Anabelle started crying. She should have known this was going to happen. She should have asked Javier to stay.

"They're out on a mission, aren't they?" Connie asked, "Fuck."

"I paged Javi."

"We'll try calling him when we reach the hospital."

Anabelle shook her head. "No. No, he needs to focus."

"Are you...?"

"Yes! I've already fucked up enough."

Connie squeezed her knee. "You haven't fucked anything up. You and this baby are the best thing that's ever happened to Javi and you know it."

Anabelle prayed to whatever god was listening that Javier wouldn't miss the birth of their first child.

Javier got back to the Jeep after the raid and noticed his pager going off. It was from Anabelle.

"Baby Peña."

Javier's heart stopped in his chest.

Steve noticed the change in his partner. "What? What's wrong?"

"I'm gonna be a father."

"Ana's in labor?" Javier nodded.

Steve threw his arms around the other man. "C'mon, man. We gotta get you to that hospital. You know which one it is right?"

Javier nodded. Anabelle and Javier had picked the hospital when she was 8 months pregnant. Javier gave him the name and they sped through the streets.

They had barely stopped when Javier jumped out of the Jeep, still in his tac vest. "Connie!" Javier yelled, seeing the blonde.

"Oh thank god, Javi!" Connie grabbed Javier by the arm and dragged him to Anabelle's room.

His heart broke when he heard her scream in pain. Connie gently pushed him into the room and even though Anabelle's face was bright red and covered in tears, he still thought she was the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen.

"Javi!" Anabelle gasped.

Javier struggled to get the tac vest off, but once he did, he was at Anabelle's side. "I'm here. I'm here, baby."

Anabelle reached up to touch Javier's face. "I...I thought you weren't gonna make it."

Javier took her hand and kissed her knuckles. "I did and that's all that matters." Javier stayed by her side by it all.

In the early morning hours, in a small Colombian hospital, Elizabeth Stevie Peña was born.

Javier had faced down Escobar's most terrifying Sicarios, but holding his tiny daughter in his arms was the most scary thing he'd ever done. "She's beautiful," Javier said, sniffing the tears away.

"And she's ours," Anabelle told him.

Javier set Elizabeth in her bassinet and leaned over Anabelle. "Thank you. For everything. For understanding who I am and for giving me the most beautiful gift I'll ever receive. I never want to leave your side ever again."

A tear escaped Anabelle's eye and Javi wiped it away with his thumb. "Javi..."

Javier leaned down and kissed her.

Everything changed from that moment on.
