Summary: It's Marley and Oberyn's first Christmas together and Oberyn finally sees his Little's living situation.
Marley puttered around her apartment. Oberyn was coming over tonight and she wanted it to be perfect. It was their first Christmas together.
Around 5 p.m., her doorbell rang. She rushed to the door and threw it open.
Oberyn stood there in a dark peacoat and a bright yellow scarf around his neck. His hands were full of presents. "Hello, beautiful Dove."
Marley smiled. "Hi, daddy."
Oberyn entered her apartment and was immediately struck by how sparse it was.
A tiny Christmas tree sat in the corner. It was thin and barely had any ornaments on it. Instead of the Christmas lights being on the tree, they were haphazardly nailed to the wall. There were several presents under the tree and Oberyn had a sneaking suspicion that most of them were empty boxes. He suddenly realized why Marley preferred spending time at his uptown apartment.
"Do you like my decorations, daddy?" Marley asked as Oberyn took his coat off. He laid it across the back of one of the chairs at the small kitchen table.
Oberyn gave her a tense smile. "They're lovely, Dove."
"Sit. Sit down." She cleared a small spot on the couch for him.
The couch was lumpy and uncomfortable. It was probably given to her.
Marley disappeared into the small kitchenette and came back with two mugs of hot cocoa with peppermint sticks in them. "It doesn't taste as good as Starbucks, but..."
Oberyn took a mug and took a sip. He wanted to grimace at the watered-down taste. "Delicious."
Marley smiled and set her mug down on the chest she used as a coffee table. She knelt down in front of the TV, which looked like it was from the 90's, and popped in a DVD.
Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer started playing.
"This is my favorite. I watch it every year," Marley told him as she snuggled into his side. When the movie was over, Marley made them some soup before they opened presents.
Oberyn's presents were expensive jewelry, but Marley's favorite was a diamond encrusted collar. On the D-ring was a charm that read "Daddy's Dove."
"It's beautiful, Daddy."
"Turn around, Dove."
Marley turned around and Oberyn placed the collar around her neck. Once it was around her neck, Marley heard the click of a lock. Marley gasped and turned around.
Oberyn was holding a small key on a chain. "Only I can take this off you."
Marley touched the collar around her throat, her heart fluttering at the thought of being completely owned by Oberyn. "Thank you."
After Marley finished opening Oberyn's presents, she went over to the tree and pulled out a small envelope. "This...this is all I could afford."
Oberyn took the envelope from her and opened it.
Inside was a hand-made card. There was a stick-figure drawing of the two of them and a huge Christmas tree in the background. It said, "Merry Christmas, Daddy. Love you, Dove."
Oberyn's eyes filled with tears.
"Oh, no! Don't cry. Please don't cry, Daddy!" Marley begged.
Oberyn sniffled and shook his head. "Come here, sweet girl."
Marley cuddled up in his lap.
"This is the best present I could ever receive. You know why? Because you made it."
Marley pouted. "But, your gifts were better."
"No, no, my Dove. It doesn't matter how much anything costs. Your card was made from the heart. I won't lie and say it hurts to see you struggle like this. You deserve the world. So with that said, how would you like to move in with me?"
Marley's head shot up. "Move uptown?"
Oberyn nodded. "Let me spoil you, Dove. Let me give you the life you deserve."
"When?"
"Whenever you want. I would have you by my side tomorrow if I could."
"Do...do I have to get rid of all my stuff?"
"You can bring anything you desire, sweet girl."
Marley got up from his lap and walked over to her tiny tree. She caressed the small branches. "Can I bring this?" Marley knew it would look out of place in Oberyn's lavish apartment.
"Can I ask why, Dove?"
"I bought this tree the first Christmas I spent here. I know it's small, but I've grown to love it."
"I'd never part you from a sentimental object."
Marley smiled. She'd keep it in her room or maybe her bathroom. She wanted to keep her tiny tree forever.
