Summary: Alexa observes the Heroics training and things heat up between her and Marcus.
The next day, Marcus showed Alexa to the training room in Heroics HQ.
"So why did Fury send you?" Marcus asked her.
Alexa shrugged. "Fury is hypervigilant. He probably feels slightly threatened by your superhero team. It doesn't seem like he wants to recruit any of you. It's hard enough getting the Avengers to work together."
Marcus scoffed. "Tell me about it. Half of the time, I'm convinced my teammates hate each other."
"I think Fury just wants to make sure we can count on you if we need you."
"Trust me, my team will run to anywhere there's a camera."
Alexa laughed. "Well that's the one thing our teams don't have in common then. Most of the Avengers prefer to live quiet lives, unless you're Tony of course."
They finally arrived at the training room and Marcus typed in a passcode. The Heroics were already there.
"Hello everyone! I'm Alexa Schofield from SHIELD. Director Fury has sent me here to observe you, so just train like you normally would."
The Heroics looked uninterested and Marcus ran a hand down his face.
Alexa smirked and pulled out a collapsible tripod and placed her camera on it.
Marcus mentioned they loved having cameras on them, so hopefully they would play up their powers with it on. Marcus slipped away to change into his uniform and Alexa's mouth dropped open when she saw him.
He was dressed head-to-toe in black, much like a SHIELD agent, but he wore a tight short sleeved shirt that showed off his muscular biceps. His jeans looked painted on with how tight they were and his vest only accentuated his broad chest. On his back were two katanas. He twirled them expertly in his hands.
Alexa reached out with her powers and tugged on them.
Marcus looked over at her and shook his head playfully.
Sure enough, the Heroics started showing off once they realized a camera was recording them.
Miracle Guy had super strength and could fly. Garden variety superpowers.
Tech-no could control technology. Now that power was slightly more helpful. Imagine the things he could hack into.
Lavagirl could control lava and had heat powers. Could come in handy sometimes.
Blinding Fast was a speedster. Again, a garden variety superpower.
Ms. Vox had a sonar scream. Good for disarming opponents.
Sharkboy, who she later learned was married to Lavagirl, could control water and talk to sharks.
Crimson Legend could create solar explosions. A pretty helpful superpower if you asked Alexa.
Red Lightning Fury had lightning powers. Fury wouldn't be interested in him. They already had Thor.
Invisi Girl could turn invisible. A power everyone wished they had.
Crushing Low was another one with super strength. Again, the Avengers didn't need that. They had Steve for that.
Then there was Marcus. An older, much more experienced, male version of Alexa.
"We've shown you what we can do. Show us what you can do," Miracle Guy challenged her.
Alexa shook her head. "I'm here to observe you, not the other way around."
"C'mon. Show us," Tech-no begged.
Alexa shrugged off her jacket and pulled her daggers out of her thigh holsters, stepping onto the mat.
Marcus and Alexa started to spar, Alexa's daggers clashing with Marcus' katanas.
The Heroics watched on in interest, eager to see which metal wielder would come out on top.
Alexa was quick and agile and got a few good hits in before Marcus disarmed her.
Alexa instead decided to use her SHIELD agent training. She vaulted off Marcus' forearms and wrapped her thighs around his head. She threw her body back, taking them both to the floor.
While Marcus was distracted, she used her powers to demagnetize his hands and slid his katanas away.
"Okay, okay," Marcus said tapping the outside of her thigh, "You know, under different circumstances I wouldn't mind this position."
Alexa blushed furiously and stood up, holding a handout. Marcus took it and she helped him up.
"Where in the hell did you learn that?" Miracle Guy asked her.
"A former Russian assassin."
The Heroics started to file into the locker rooms.
"So...would it be too much for me to ask you out for drinks?" Marcus asked Alexa.
Alexa smiled. "I'd like that, Marcus."
