Summary: It's time to do the weekly shopping for Frankie and his Little Chloe.

"Cariño! C'mon!" Frankie called from his truck.

"Comin' daddy!" Chloe came running out of the house, locking the door behind her. Her stuffed tabby cat, Esme, was in her arms. She jumped up in the cab of the truck and buckled up.

"Got your mask, baby?" Frankie asked her.

Chloe searched her bag and pulled out her mask. "Right here, daddy!"

Frankie pulled out of the driveway and they drove a few miles down the road to the store. When they got there, Frankie helped Chloe out of the truck. "Time to put your mask on."

Chloe pouted. "I don't wike it, though."

Frankie sighed. "I know, baby. But we wear it so we don't make other people sick." He helped her put her mask on, along with Esme's.

Chloe didn't like wearing her mask, which was why Frankie had found a matching one for her stuffie. It made Chloe feel better about wearing the mask.

"Now remember you have to be Big, okay?" Frankie said.

Chloe nodded.

They went inside and grabbed a cart.

Chloe buckled Esme into the cart as Frankie pulled out his phone.

"Okay, baby. We need some fruit first. Do you wanna grab some apples?"

One of Chloe's favorite snacks was peanut butter and apple slices. Chloe ran over to the apples and picked out three massive Granny Smith apples and put them in a produce bag.

They walked past a display of cookies and desserts.

Chloe held up a box of Rice Crispy Treats.

"Not today, baby."

Chloe pouted, even though Frankie couldn't see it.

"Pouting isn't going to work, Chlo."

Chloe placed the box back. "I'm not pouting!"

Frankie chuckled. "Sure you aren't. C'mon."

They went up and down the aisles grabbing what they needed.

Once they were done with the groceries, they needed to pick up some things from other parts of the store.

They walked past the toy section and Chloe stopped while Frankie kept walking. Chloe looked through the small figurines.

"What do we need next, cariño?" Frankie asked Chloe. When there was no answer, he looked behind him and found her gone. "Chloe!" he called.

Chloe was Big right now, but there was still a chance she could slip into being Little and have a meltdown.

Frankie traced his steps back and found her standing in the toy aisle. "Chloe! Come here right now!" Frankie snapped.

Chloe dropped what was in her hand. The tone in Frankie's voice made her want to get down on her knees. She walked over to Frankie and he grabbed her upper arms.

"Don't ever do that again! You're not supposed to leave my side. What if something happened to you?"

Tears filled her eyes. She hadn't meant to wander off, she just got distracted.

Frankie could see her about to cry and sighed. He wrapped his arms around her and Chloe hid her face in his neck. "I'm sorry, baby. I didn't mean to get so upset. I was just scared."

"I'm sorry, daddy."

"I know you are, cariño." Frankie stroked her hair until she calmed down.

Chloe was quiet for the rest of the trip. Even when they reached the checkouts.

Frankie could see that this little outing hadn't been the best experience for her. As he was setting the items on the belt, he said, "Pick something out."

She looked at him and cocked her head to the side.

"Grab a candy bar or something."

"Can I eat it on the way home?"

Frankie wanted to tell her no, but she was on the verge of throwing herself on the floor and having a fit. "Not all of it. Don't wanna spoil your dinner."

Chloe grabbed a Snickers bar and set it on the belt. Snickers was Frankie's favorite, so Frankie grabbed some Reese's.

They checked out and loaded up the truck.

Frankie got in and leaned across the seat to kiss Chloe. "You did such a good job today, cariño."

Chloe pouted. "You don't have to lie to me, daddy. I was naughty."

"Daddy just got scared is all. I thought you were behind me and then you weren't."

"I just wanted to look at the toys!"

"Next time, say something to daddy. We could have stopped for a few minutes. We weren't in any hurry today. I know this past year hasn't been easy with lockdowns and masks, but you were so well behaved. How about we go get some ice cream?"

"But daddy! You said we have to have dinner first!"

Frankie laughed. "Well sometimes it's okay to have dessert before dinner."

Chloe smiled. "Okay, daddy. Whatever you say."
