I love
Summers
Spent down
At the lake
It's so much fun
Whenever we go
I've probably
Nagged
And begged
For you to come with me
To spend your summer
There
At the lake
Side by side
With me
But you never budged
Never folded to my pleas
It's alright
I think I prefer
Going without you
I have so much more fun
Without you
The water is warmer
Without you
The ice cream is sweeter
When you're hundreds of miles away
The sun is more golden
When you're nowhere near being on my mind
Summers at the lake
Always require work
But the play
Always outweighs the work
That needs to be done
Maybe you're afraid
Of being put to work
During your precious summers
But when I return
My skin sun kissed
And wearing a new dress
I can see the envy in your eyes
And how you wished you went
To spend your summer
At the lake with me
