Pond Water

Take a seat

Right beside me

Under this willow tree

We'll picnic

And maybe even feed the ducks and the geese

We'll lay in the grass

Picking at the blades and covers

Sprinkling our fistfulls onto each other

We'll stroll around the pond

Smiling and waving to the fisherman

Asking if he's caught anything

He'll shake his head

And make an excuse

But promise he'll have something by the end of the hour

We'll laugh at the excuses but humor him

Continuing our stroll

Around the irregular shaped pond

No one knows

If it was man made or natural

Doesn't matter really

All that matters is that it exists

It's our little pond

For our picnics and strolls

We reach our willow tree

And sit side by side

We talk for hours

Until the sun sets

The crickets serenade us

And we watch for the first star to shine

The pond water may be murky

But my feelings for you

Are crystal clear
