Right when you think
You're going to touch the sky
You begin to fall
Gradually
Steadily
Back down to the earth
But you rise again
Trying
So, so hard
To reach the stars
But you can't manage
You so desperately wish
To stay on top of the world
But right when it's so close to your grasp
You begin to fall once more
Gradually,
Steadily
Around and around
You go
Circling back to the stars
Only to fall
I'm amazed
At how you try
So hard
Over and over again
Why don't you stay down
Don't hurt yourself so many times
Did I really say that?
Has this town affected me this much?
That I sound like everyone else?
Telling someone else
To stop pursuing their dreams
But you're not like me
You don't let the comments of mine and everyone else's
Get to you
You brush them off with a smile
Before ascending again
You aim for the stars
And though you keep missing
You try again
And again
No matter how many times you fall back down to the ground
It doesn't stop you
From rising above the rest of us
Over and over
Round and round
