Wilted Bouquet

I adore flowers

And the many arrangements there are

I get bouquets

For Valentine's

And birthday's

And even when they wilt

I don't want to throw them away

They were so pretty

And vibrant with colors

They smelled like spring

And it's trivial

But I don't want to hurt feelings

I keep the flowers

Even once they're dried and wilted

I keep them safe

And place them in old coke bottles

And other random vases

As they turn black and frail

They're once spring scents

Turns stale

Just looking at them

Can make them fall apart

You have to be careful

Around these wilted bouquets

They should have been laid to rest

Months ago

But still

They try their best

To appease any viewer

To be a flower

Like they once were

But flowers have a lifespan

And shouldn't be forced to be one

When they're no longer that way
