Why didn't Katsuki just listen?

"Just stay by my side, Katsuki." Kurogiri said, walking side by side with Katsuki. "With all the news of... Izuku's mother," he whispered, "I wouldn't want you to get hurt."

"I'll be fine, geez."

"Just promise me you'll be careful."

He sounded serious, so Katsuki nodded. "I promise." And he promised to him. He promised for Izuku. But he found it silly. What could happen? Either way, he could handle himself.

His wrists ached in pain, the metal piercing his skin and keeping him still. Blood covered his hands.

He only left Kurogiri's side because he saw a small booth selling flowers. There were boquetes of all different sizes and colors, some small and others large. And one was made of roses and orchids: Izuku's favorites.

He bought one. For Izuku.

Izuku had been going through a tough time with that mission, and Katsuki knew Izuku wasn't saying everything he was thinking. Perhaps he knew the people. Or knew who did what killing. Or it reminded him too much of his past.

Katsuki couldn't imagine what Izuku had gone through. What his Izuku had gone through. Katsuki would give Izuku anything. He would give Izuku his heart if he could. But he couldn't. No one could. So he was going to give him a flower, a flower to show his love. A flower to show that he was there for him. A flower that was meant to bring happiness was now giving Katsuki the opposite of that. A flower. A flower, of all things, brought him to this.

At this moment, Katsuki couldn't help but feel a pinch of fear.

Clink. Clink. Clink.

The footsteps were getting closer. And Katsuki couldn't do anything. He couldn't use his quirk, he tried all ready. Even if it did work, it wouldn't had done much. It would had just hurt him more.

It was too cold. Katsuki couldn't sweat.

He could barely think, either.

He couldn't remember much after buying the flowers. He could only remember the flowers, a shout, an alley way...

And hair.

He was in pain. So much pain. But he could brave through it. Because he knew what was coming. He knew what storm was brewing.

He knew who was about to turn the corner. And he knew that he should had confessed to Izuku earlier.

Katsuki should had told Izuku about his mother. Because now, as the footsteps drew closer, it was too late.
