Chanyeol's P.O.V.

"He just stared at her like she had two heads! Haha! It was hilarious," Tao said as he finished his story while we ate our lunch in the cafeteria. He was telling us about Kris in their math class they had today. I couldn't really repeat much of what he was said because I wasn't really listening that closely. My mind was on something else, and that something was walking this way.

"Jessica, you can come sit with us if you want," I said to her as she was walking by.

"Actually, I was heading over to my table with my friends. We always eat lunch together." As she said that I looked to the table she was referring to. Her friend, I think it was Youngjae, was glaring at me as she was speaking.

"Are you sure? We wanted to have lunch with you to kind of show that we appreciate you helping us out today."

"All I did was show you to your lockers. It's not that big of a deal, but I don't think my friends would mind me eating with you guys for a day," she said. As she was sitting down, I saw Youngjae looking at her with a sad look in his eyes. Then, he glanced at me. I gave him a smirk and watched him turn around angrily. I couldn't help but smile at that. I knew that he had feelings for Jessica, it was clear, and I was determined to make sure he didn't get her. I wasn't going to let him, or anyone for that matter, get in my way of winning her over.

The rest of lunch Jessica talked with me and the guys. Everytime she would laugh, I would have a huge smile spread across my face. I don't know what it is, but there is something about this girl that I can't shake. It's like everything she does just makes me happy. Her smile alone has given me more butterflies in my stomach than I have gotten from anyone in my entire life. I will do anything to get to know her better.

*Hey, Chanyeol.* Suho mind messaged me.

*What do you want, Hyung?* I said, irritated that he was distracting me.

*I'm just watching you with Jessica. I can tell that you really like her.*

*Of course I do, Suho. I think I've made it pretty obvious.* I said matter-of-factly.

*I just wanted to make sure you remember why we're here. Don't get too caught up with her that you lose sight of our purpose.*

*Don't worry, Hyung. I can work and play at the same time.* I said smirking at him.

Youngjae's P.O.V.

I watched Jessica sit across from that Chanyeol guy. I couldn't help but feel jealous. She always eats with us. Why should today be any different? Before this guy came along things were easy for me when it came to Jess. Everyone in school knows how I feel about her, so it was basically like she was off limits. Now, I have this guy trying to take her from me.

Out of the corner of my eye, I could see that he was looking at me. When I turned to look, he had a pretentious smirk on his face, which just made me angrier.

"Is it bad that I kind of wish he was one of the bad guys just so I have an excuse to wipe that cocky grin off of his face?" I asked aloud.

"Just relax, Jae. Jess is just sitting over there today. I'm sure she'll sit with us again tomorrow," Mark said, trying to comfort me.

"Yeah, Youngjae. I've known Jessica since we were in preschool, and she tends to go through phases. That includes with boys. Whenever she sees a good looking guy that gives her positive attention, she tends to gravitate towards him for a while, then she goes back to normal. Rarely does it ever go farther than that," Meg tried to reason. Meg was Jessica's closest friend; they were like sisters.

"What would it take to take it farther than that with her?" I asked.

"If it were to go farther than a short fling, Jess would really have to fall for the guy. He'd have to be someone really special to break through her walls. You know as well as me and everyone else at this table that her walls are taller and thicker than most. In 17 years, only one guy has broken those walls, only to leave her heartbroken a few months later. Since then, she built them up even higher. It is possible that he could do it, but it would take a miracle," she said assuringly.

"And what are the chances that I could someday break her walls?" I asked desperately.

"A lot better than his chances. You are one of her closest and most trusted friends; you've already started breaking her walls. What makes you different than that guy is that he is trying to get her to see that he likes her, and you try to keep it hidden. You need to let your walls down before you can get her to let her's down."

I nodded along, knowing that she was right. The problem was that I don't know how Jess feels. Sooner or later I know I will need to man up and tell her, or the new guy will steal her from me.
