Chapter 2

*Lily's POV*

"Dad? Are you okay?" I asked politely

"No.. I need your help. Stay safe, please." He sounded worried. My heart was beating a hundred miles a minute. I feel broken right now.

"Okay, I'll try," I said and then I hung up on the phone when people asked me who that was, I just simply lied and said it was nothing. I lied to my friends a lot these days, I know it was unhealthy, but it was necessary. The 3rd hour was pretty much boring, the homework for history is really easy. Then 4th hour we pretty much did nothing, then came T.A. Katie, Demi and I all headed to lunch together. For lunch today it was just Hamburgers, ugh. Not really a meat person. I then sat down at my lunch table, a cop came to my table and started talking to us.

"Are you Lily King?" The officer asked me

"Ya, why. What's going on?" I asked. The lunchroom went silent, everyone was staring at me.

"It's your dad, he was murdered." I looked at him with tears

"Excuse me," I said and then I ran off, my heart was beating really fast, I felt broken. Jess then came over to me to see how I was doing.

"Hey, are you okay?" She asked

"No, does it look like I'm okay?" I snapped

"Sorry, hey come here," Jess said and then we hugged. We went back into the lunchroom together and then I saw my mom.

"You are Under Arrest for the murder of Jerry King." The cop said. Oh my god, no.

"What's going on here?" I asked

"Go away, this isn't your concern." He snapped

"NO!! You didn't do it!" I said

"Go away little girl." He said, angrily. My mom looked at me with hurt eyes.

"No, she didn't do it," I said to the cop

"I love you, and all your friends.. make sure they're there for you." Mom said, then she left.

*Time Skip*

I went to the rest of my classes, all anyone said was I'm sorry for your loss. Some of them looked at me like I was crazy since I had a crazy mom. I just can't believe my mom would do this, she was probably just innocent. That had to be, tonight I'm spending the night at my friend Demi's house to get my mind off things.
