Most of the story will be in Docs POV

××× 💕 ×××

Y/n L/n. Probably the most level headed, kindest, and mature person in this damned agency. Always lending a helping hand, never raising his voice. Stubborn as an ox, even daring to argue against Harry. He was perfect in every way. He gave us na energy here that we never had before. And I think everyone noticed.

"'Tav, you should take a break. You just got back from a mission, you need the rest," I heard the familiar voice in which i was oh so in love with.

"I know, but I'm swamped with files still. You know I cannot take a break without getting it done," I replied, motioning to a stack of papers on my desk.

"Well lucky for you, I can take care of them. Now go before I hide your coffee maker," he threatened, hands on his hips.

Damn him and his threats.

"Fine. But just this once, otherwise I finish my work first," he mumbled, handing him the papers. He grinned at me, taking a spot at my desk before he shooed me off.

Glad he didn't see the red dusting on my cheeks.

××× Your POV ×××

As soon as Gustav left the clinic, you put your burning face in your hands, groaning. You had a perfect chance to tell him how you felt and you blew it. It wasn't your fault he was so pretty, you thought. Or caring, or oh so thoughtful...

You waved those thoughts aside, deciding you would still do it tonight, knowing Gustav wouldn't sleep until late.

Losing track of time, you hadn't even realized how quickly you got done with the papers. You decided you wouldn't tell him right away, and instead chose to relax and go over what you were going to say in one of the lounge rooms.

××× Doc's POV ×××

Unable to sleep, I headed towards the lounge. Maybe it'd be quiet and I'd fall asleep there. The sound of voices, however, stamped down that tiny bit of hope.

Strangely enough, one if the voices seemed familiar.

Sorry if you like Smoke, he's gonna be painted as a bit of a bad guy here

"C'mon, Y/n. Just give me a chance here. I promise I'll treat you right," I faintly made out James' (Smoke) voice. Who was he talking to?

"I told you James, I'm not interested. I like someone else and someone else isn't you. Now could you please stop bothering me?"

Y/n. James must be trying to ask him out and Y/n clearly doesn't sound comfortable with it. It hurt a little, knowing y/n liked someone else, but that didn't mean I wouldn't help him. I opened the lounge door to see y/n on the couch, James leaning over his shoulder. I could tell how uncomfortable Y/n was from here.

"James, I think that's enough. You're obviously making Y/n uncomfortable," I told him, staring him down. He fair glared at me before storming out of the room.

"Thank you, Gustav. He wouldn't stop pestering me about going out with him," he said, visibily relaxing. I only gave a small nod, turning around. I paused in the doorway.

"Goodnight, amie. Get some rest. And I hope whoever you like treats you well."

The very next morning I sat at my desk, looking over files about a strange outbreak in New Mexico. Eliza wanted me down there to help, but she warned me I might not come back.

I hadn't noticed Y/n come in until they swiped the files and looked them over, his face scrunching up a bit. He slammed them down on my desk, leaning on it.

"Tell Eliza I'm going in your place," he demanded. He was serious and I could only tell because he wasn't smiling about it.

"It's not going to happen. Eliza requested me, not you," I retorted, standing up and walking towards the door.

" I don't care. I'll tell Eliza myself. The team needs you and I won't risk you dying out there."

"Y/n, you're not going."

"Yes, I am."

"No, you're not! Do you not get it?" I said, raising my voice, the strain evident. I turned around to face a shocked Y/n.

"I can't... I won't let you go. I can't risk losing you out there. I go because I know I'll come back everytime knowing you're safe. The thought of losing you... Je ne pense pas que je pourrais le gérer," I mumbled, running a hand over my face.

(I don't know if I could handle it)

"'Tav... What're you geting at here?"

I hadn't realized how close y/n had gotten until I turned around, hearing him speak right behind me. I gently grabbed his shoulders, pressing my forehead to his as I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I could feel the tears threatening to spill.

"I love you, Y/n. I really do. Everything about you is perfect. The way you handle and angry Sledge or the way to talk to Marius and Max (Mozzie) without sounding annoyed. Your stubbornness and care for everyone at this agency. I've never loved anyone like I've loved you," I whispered, swallowing thickly as I felt the tears drip out of the corner of my eyes.

It was quiet, nothing but the sound of our breathing and a ticking clock.

...

And suddenly, I felt a pair of soft lips on mine, smiling slightly before they were gone. I felt even softer hands on my face, wiping the tears as I opened my eyes.

I saw a smiling, teary eyed Y/n staring at me like I was his entire world.

"You don't understand how long I've been waiting to hear that from you," he said, his bottom lip quivering as more tears threatened spilled. I could only smile and pull him in for another kiss.

"I'm still going, by the way."

"GUSTAV-"
