- "So, just don't get us killed." -
"What's the rumpus?" Bruce asked as he, Tony and Nova entered the lab, the tall woman now dressed in ripped black jeans and a baggy t-shirt.
"Well, the sceptre." Tony answered. "You see, we were wondering how Strucker got so inventive. So I've been analysing the gem inside. You may recognise." Tony made a hologram of Jarvis appear and Bruce was in the middle of it so he moved out.
"Jarvis." Bruce stated.
"Doctor." Jarvis greeted.
"Started out, Jarvis was just a natural language UI. Now he runs the Iron Legion. He runs more of the business than anyone besides Pepper." Tony explained.
"Oh." Bruce hummed.
"Top of the line."
"Yes."
"I suspect not for long." Jarvis spoke up.
Tony scanned the sceptre gem.
"Meet the competition." Tony said before making a second hologram appear. It was larger and more expanded than Jarvis and blue.
"It's beautiful." Bruce murmured in amazement.
"If you had to guess, what's it look like it's doing?" Tony quizzed.
"Like it's thinkin'." Nova chimed in, bring her nail as she looked at the hologram.
"I mean, this could be... It's not a human mind." Bruce stuttered over his words and Tony hummed. "I mean, look at this. They're like neurones firing."
"Down in Strucker's lab, I saw some fairly advanced robotics work. They deep-sized the data, but I gotta guess he was knocking on a very particular door." Tony guessed with a shrug.
"Artificial intelligence." Bruce realised.
"This could be it, Bruce, Beanstalk. This could be the key to creating Ultron." Tony told them and Bruce and Tony chuckled softly.
"I thought Ultron was a fantasy." Bruce mumbled.
"Yesterday it was. If we can harness this power, apply it to my Iron Legion protocol?" Tony suggested.
"That's a man-sized 'if'." Bruce countered.
"Our job is 'if'. What if you were sipping margaritas on a sun-drenched beach, turning brown instead of green? Not looking over your shoulder for Veronica." Tony asked Bruce. "And you could be sipping tea in a castle with Natasha by your side." Tony told Nova who was in deep thought.
"Don't hate. I helped design Veronica." Bruce said.
"As a worst-case measure, right?" Tony quizzed. "How about a best case? What if the world was safe? What if, next time aliens roll up to the club, and they will, they couldn't get past the bouncer?"
"The only people threatening the planet would be people." Bruce hummed.
"I want to apply this to the Ultron program. But Jarvis can't download a data schematic this dense. We can only do it while we have the sceptre here. That's three days. Give me three days." Tony tried.
"So you're going for artificial intelligence, and you don't wanna tell the team?" Bruce questioned.
"Right. That's right. You know why? Because we don't have time for a city hall debate. I don't wanna hear 'the man was not meant to meddle' medley. I see a suit of armour around the world." He continued.
"Sounds like a cold world, Tony." Bruce said.
"I've seen colder." Tony argued. "This one, this very vulnerable blue one, it needs Ultron. Peace in our time."Tony started to walk to his station. "Imagine that." He mused.
"I've seen cold worlds, Tony, but I'm not gonna be apart of this." Nova shook her head, starting to leave the room. "This won't end well so I'd suggest you stop but I know that you won't listen to me. So, just don't get us killed."
