"Coriane, you're going to be late!" I heard Samantha call from somewhere in the apartment, probably the kitchen.
I was in the middle of getting dressed, grabbing a shirt off a hanger. "I know!"
As quickly as I could, I ran across the hallway out of my bedroom and into the bathroom, attempting to brush my hair and teeth at the same time (I would not recommend), before I rushed to the kitchen.
She was already smiling warmly, the same one she had just about every morning of the school year. Today, she was holding a strawberry Pop Tart out to me. "You've done so well at school this year, your father and I are so proud."
She wrapped me in a hug, pressing a quick kiss to my forehead. I pulled back and smiled. "Thanks, Sam."
She looked me over one last time before squeezing my shoulders. "Alright, now really, get through your last day!"
I gave her one last hug before walking out the door, sprinting down the flights of stairs, and barely getting onto the school bus in time. I sat in an empty seat, where boys and girls stared at me with a mixture of want and jealously. It took me forever to figure out, but Annabeth summed it up to something that happens with Aphrodite children.
The bus came to a stop outside of my private school, Meriwether College Prep, as normal as a progressive school could be. Fully ADHD and dyslexic friendly, one of the reasons my father had decided to send me here, along with the reason I agreed: Percy Jackson was also in attendance.
I slung my bag over my shoulders as I got off the bus, walking through the main doors and down the various halls, giving small greetings here and there as I made my way to my locker. Until Matt Sloan came up and slung his arm around my shoulders. "Hey, Cor."
I shrugged his arm off with a scoff. "Don't call me that, Sloan."
"You let that Jackson boy call you Cor," he protested with a huff.
"That's because Percy is my friend," I retorted, holding my chin up.
"Cor!" I heard someone call, this time an entirely welcome use of a nickname.
"Percy!" I turned to see him, running from Matt and grabbing onto his arms with the widest smile I had. "We did it!"
I frowned. "Is everything okay? You seem off."
Percy nodded. "I'm alright. It'll just be weird without having school."
"Yeah," I agreed. "But, we'll be at Camp soon with Annabeth!"
That's when I knew what was wrong. His smile faltered, his shoulders slightly slumped.
"Something's wrong with Camp."
"I don't know, my mom said something and that we'd talk later. Just try not to think about it."
My stomach turned into a pit, but I only nodded.

Here's a run down of the day so far:
Got into a pebble fight during English.
Tyson, this one dude Percy and I were friends with (don't know a whole ton about him other then he likes peanut butter and is very tall), blew up the lab during science.
I sat next to Percy in social studies, where he flipped open his notebook to a picture of Annabeth and I.
Over spring break, my dad and Sam agreed to let me go with Annabeth to D.C., and of course, Annabeth made us take a picture in front of the Lincoln Memorial.
