We start walking over to the garden and with every step we take I see Lizzie's smile growing. Her smile makes my stomach turn every time. It's so perfect. We get to the garden and she opens the gate. I follow behind her and close the gate behind me.
"Well, this is the garden. It's pretty small for a farm garden but it's also a lot of work for being by myself so it's a manageable size." I say.
"No! It's perfect! I love it already," she says and it makes me smile.
"Ok let's get to work so after we can make dinner. We can use some of the vegetables for dinner." I say and she nods.
"So first we have to go collect all the crops, pluck all the weeds out, then we have to put fertilizer and water the whole garden." I look over and she's smirking at me and holding in a laugh. I wonder why but then quickly realize, "Oh. I forgot your garden all the time." I start to blush because of the way her eyes are locked into mine.
"I do the same for my garden, but everyone does something different or has a different order of doing things. I usually water first and then put fertilizer but we can do it your way." She smiles and I nod. We get to work picking all the vegetables
After we are done picking all of the crops, we start plucking the weeds.
"This is always my least favourite part," I say and she looks at me and raises her eyebrows.
"Really?! I love picking the weeds. It's so calming and it makes the garden feel fresh and new," She says and I think about it.
"That's a good point. I just don't like how long it can take sometimes. It's much faster with the two of us picking them though," I say and she nods. We pick the weeds in silence for a while until there is one left.
"Go ahead. You can pick it," I say and she laughs.
"It would be an honour," she jokes back and bends down to pluck the last weed.
"So, fertilizer now and then we will water. For today we will just sprinkle the mix of stuff I have in these containers. Just be careful when you are pouring it out. The lids fall off sometimes and it all spills out."
"I might just hold it on then," Lizzie says, and she does. She holds the top of the lid the whole time which is funny to me. She didn't want any to spill. We continue to walk up and down all the rows until the fertilizer is spread evenly everywhere. I put my container down and grabbed Lizzie's out of her hand too.
I grab the hose and go around the corner to turn it on. Lizzie stands to the side to let me water quickly. I come back to the garden and start walking up and down the isles making sure to get every plant so the soil is nice and wet. Once I am done I see Lizzie standing peacefully just enjoying the view. I definitely need to change that. I start to walk away and quickly turn back after a couple of seconds.
"Oh! I forgot one!" I say and I walk back but stay a good distance away from Lizzie.
"Which one?" She asks and I point in a random direction behind her. She turns around and I quickly turn on the hose and spray her in that back. She screams and jumps as the water splashes against her leaving her soaked.
"Y/N!!!" She yells and all u can do is laugh at how funny her facial expressions are.
How does she manage to look so cute even when she's soaked in the water?!
"I told you I missed one," I say and playfully smirk at her.
"Very funny," she says and starts slowly walking towards me with an evil twinkle in her eye.
"What are you doing?" I ask, getting a bit nervous.
"Oh nothing," she responds, getting closer and closer.
"Uh oh!" I say when I realize what she's doing. She's trying to hug me to get me wet too! I start running and she starts chasing after me both of us laughing at the silliness. I look back at her to see how close behind me she is and don't see the hose on the ground. I trip over it and fall flat on my face, Lizzie falling on top of me after tripping too.
I roll over a little bit so that we are facing each other and we stare into each other's eyes in silence. After a few seconds, she leans in for a kiss and I panic, rolling over and quickly standing up.
"Uh we should go inside now to make dinner before it's too late," I say and she nods looking disappointed. Ugh, why did I do that?! I should have just kissed her back because I wanted to. She probably feels weird now and I understand why. I hope she doesn't want to leave again.
We start walking into the house and I all I can think about is how dumb I feel for jumping up quickly like that. I look behind me to see her trailing behind keeping her distance. I stop walking so that she's beside me and I jokingly put my arm around her.
"Ew, I forgot you were wet!" I say and make a face at her.
"You're wet too. I fell on you, remember?" She says back.
"Oh right. Well, then I guess it's ok. What do ya want for dinner?" I ask her, trying to make up for earlier.
"Ummm... today I would like to make dinner. So it's a surprise!" She says and looks at my hand hanging off of her shoulder. She faintly smiles and blushes which obviously makes me smile too.
"Ok boss. You do your thing then." I say and take my arm off of her shoulders. "Oh, when we get back inside before you make dinner we should probably get changed out of our wet clothes," I say and she nods.
We get inside and both of us get dressed in fresh clean clothes. I walk out of my bedroom as Lizzie is walking out of the bathroom and I stop to admire her new outfit and blow-dried hair. She is wearing a pair of black leggings, a short black shirt and a red flannel.
"What?" She asks after catching me staring.
"Nothing. I just like your outfit, and your hair looks good too," I respond and smile.
"Oh, thanks. I was trying to match the farm vibe." Lizzie says walking away. She goes to the kitchen and starts preparing the food for dinner. I sit at the island on one of the stools and try to figure out what she's making.
"Y/n, go make yourself busy. You're not supposed to see what I'm making." She says in a firm tone and I get the message.
"Fine! Fine. I will go do something. Don't burn down my kitchen!" I say jokingly.
"no promises!" She says. Oh boy.
