This had seemed like a good idea five minutes ago when you saw Min Yoongi, Producer extraordinaire, standing by his lonesome by 10 feet from you and your best friend but now with the task of approaching him and speaking with him on your plate, your freak out level was off the charts.

You finally gave up all pretense of sanity and gave in to your inner fan girl and let her screech her heart out, internally at least. A bit like a tea kettle, you knew if you didn't let out some of this excitement, you'd act like a giant idiot trying to speak to Yoongi, and you have given Derek your promise that you would be professional.

When you thought you could control your breathing, you started practicing in your head what you were going to say. You have been a continuous Duolingo user for nearly 10 years now, and your Korean was most likely passable. You had picked Korean from the language app a decade ago when listening to a new song from EXO and becoming increasingly frustrated that you didn't know what they were saying! However, the problem with learning from Duolingo was that you were only learning what the program could teach you. So while you knew Korean, you had only really been able to practice it for the last few years after you moved into Chicago.

When the pandemic hit five years ago and your job transitioned to work from home, you finally saw an opportunity to take up Katia and Derek on their invite to move into the city and help them out more often. Your parents had both passed away after a car accident and you no longer had any ties to the little farm town you were born in. With the help of Katia and Derek, you sold your parents and your own house and most of your furniture and were able to reduce your households into just two storage units. One of mostly books and bookcases, and one of things you just couldn't bear to part with.

Books were your refuge after the grief of your parent's death, and you needed them around. But after finding a nice little 1-bedroom (2 bathroom!) apartment in Chicago's Koreatown of Albany Park, you realized that books were HEAVY to haul up and down the five flights of stairs and decided that e-reading was going to have to be your go to, at least for a few years. So now you were settled in your nice old (but new to you) apartment and got to practice your Duolingo version of Korean at the local grocery store. It was an interesting life change and so far you loved it.

But right now as you stared at the back of Yoongi's coat, you couldn't remember a single phrase in Korean. You closed your eyes and began your square breathing techniques from a long ago yoga class in the hopes that it would help, and after a few moments, you could feel yourself start to release the hold on your panic.

A few more rounds of square breathing allowed you to remember at least the most basic of Korean and you squared your shoulders and began to head towards the lone man in his puffy coat.

You made sure to approach from a direction he would be sure to see you from, and as you walked closer his eyes caught yours and he tilted his head slightly. You took a deep breath and prayed to NamJesus and all six, er... well at least five of his disciples that you wouldn't screw this up.

"Annyeonghasibnikka, Gasu Min Yoongi-nim" you begin. Your brain in its current mess cannot work out the word for his true title of producer, so you chose Singer. You realized your brain was beginning its death ramble when you wondered if there was a word for "rapper" in Korean and you decided to just keep going as you had planned.

"Anj-eul uijaga pil-yohasingayo?" Do you need a chair to sit in? You think that came out the way it was supposed to, but you can feel any IQ you may have had start to run away as you have to keep looking at Yoongi.

His eyes light up and the corners of them crinkle a bit as he smiles at you through the mask.

"I would love a chair to sit in, yes" he replies in slightly accented English, and suddenly your brain realizes that while you knew you wanted to talk to Yoongi, you hadn't actually thought about where to grab his chair from. Internal sigh, way to go (Y/N), focusing on what you want not what he needs. You decide to keep going from your memorized speech a few seconds ago, but in English this time.
