Part 4

As you start to wind your way back through the cameras and miscellaneous production equipment, it suddenly occurs to you that you have Min Yoongi's phone number. You stumble a bit as the realization hits you and you know you're going to have to find another moment to let out your inner fan girl before she goes off like a tea kettle again. The continuous litany in your head is a solid wall of OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG and you know you won't get anything done until you can get it out of your system (again).

You slip into the back set area and take a moment between some crates and boxes of equipment to pause and mentally collect your breath. I HAVE MIN YOONGI'S PHONE NUMBER OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG

You let that rattle around for a count of thirty and then grab ahold of yourself. Fangirling can be done later at home in bed surrounded by all your old ARMY stuff you tell yourself. Right now, you need to find Derek and work on that whole "professionalism" thing. You need to help Yoongi.

It's a nice mantra as mantras go and it's enough to get you back on track. You walk back to where you and Katia were previously standing and see Katia and Derek standing over by craft services again.

As you walk up, Katia starts making kissyfaces at you as only a sister can. You flip her the bird and focus instead on Derek who is torn between laughter and horror at the actions of you and your best friend.

"(Y/N) I found the trailer, but I don't think you'll be shocked by the results" Derek informs you.

"I found Min Yoongi-nim and got him past Jason Avercedes onto the front set," and Katia winces at the name. She knows how Jason has dogged after you for dates and how far you've gone to avoid him without hurting Derek's feelings. "He's up in the star area now but I have his number," and here you paused to let Katia make more kissyface noises while Derek elbowed her hard, "to text him updates if we need him."

"Oh, I bet you need him" says Katia as she starts to giggle wildly. You glanced at Derek.

"When did this start? When I left, she had no idea who he was?"

Derek sighed.

"As soon as I mentioned his name, she knew it was your old K-Pop bias and she started acting like y'all were fourteen again."

You turned and glared at your best friend until she quieted down. You looked her straight in the eyeballs and squinted your eyes. She stepped back a bit and held out her hand. The two of you solemnly went through your best friend pinky promise of death as Derek looked on and rolled his eyes.

Pinkies locked, hands twisting, thumbs pressed together. Saved only for when Best Friend promises were of the most important, Katia knew as soon as you started squinting what you wanted from her. Sometimes it helped to have had a best friend for nearly twenty years.

"I super duper promise to not fuck this up for you, and Derek promises too!" Katia swears as she presses her thumb against yours and now it is a most solemn vow.

Derek stares at the two of you and rolls his eyes once more.

"Girls.... I'll never get it" he says throwing up his hands.

You reach out and hug Katia, before turning to Derek.

"Sisters of the heart, it's a thing Derek. You need to be respectful of our ways my dude" you say.

Derek sighs and apparently gives up trying to make sense of his girlfriend and her best friend and focuses on his job instead.

"So I walked out to the trailer area, and there is certainly someone in Mr. Min's trailer who is obviously not him, but the door is locked and I got no response to my knocking." Derek is obviously troubled by this but this really isn't his area of focus on this production, it's Jason's. Neither of you really want to talk to Jason about this, but you guess this is where that newly found professionalism comes in.

You look at Derek and know you're going to have to be the one to suck it up and talk to Jason. Oh goodie, won't that be fun after the whole "assistant" thing just a moment ago.

You tell Derek that you'll talk to Jason and security and get more details from Yoongi. Katia starts in on the kissyface noises as soon as you call him Yoongi and not "Mr. Min" but stops when you give her a death glare.

"Sorry to leave you hanging out by yourself girl," you tell her as you turn to walk back to the front set, "but I promised to help."

"(Y/N), this is a once in a million lifetimes opportunity. If you fuck this up for yourself, you'll never let yourself live it down. Don't worry about me, I've got my lunk." She smiles and wraps her arm around Derek. He absently reaches out to hug her even while he's on his phone trying to put out a dozen small fires only an AP can solve, and you realize that their adoration for each other has been a constant in your life even before you lost your parents. You love watching their relationship grow together. But you also know Katia is right and if you fuck up this opportunity to help to Min Yoongi, you will never ever forgive yourself.

You pull your phone out of your pocket and send a text message to Yoongi. As you waited for his response, you realized you weren't sure how international texting was charged these days.

"Yoongi-nim, can you please forward me what HYBE-LA would have sent you about your assistant? I am on my way back to you, my friend has investigated the trailer outside and there is someone inside but no one is answering. I want to confirm with you before we get security to assist us."

Almost immediately, a response came back.

"(Y/N)-nim I thought we agreed not to be so formal. ☹ I will send you what I have received IF you only call me Yoongi from now on."

You smiled gently at your phone as you read the message and waited for the screenshots to come through. You waved goodbye to Katia, Derek long since having wandered off to do another task and headed back up front towards Yoongi.
