Annie's POV

When I first walked in Courtneys house, I was completely shocked. People were everywhere. I didn't think it was a legitimate party with no adults and just crazy teenagers everywhere.

"Hey," I heard Courtney yell over the music, "You can change in my room."

"Okay," I yelled back.

It only took me a few moments to change into my clothes, then returned downstairs. People. Everywhere.

I slowly pushed through the crowd, looking for Courtney. Okay, I don't like this. I'm claustrophobic and everyone is pushing up against me and my anxiety it's through the roof.

As I walked into the kitchen, I couldn't believe it. I smelled alcohol. Literally red solo cups everywhere. Okay, on the other hand maybe I don't want to be here after all.

I clicked my home button and saw I had no texts or calls from Demi, so obviously she must be with Roxanne still and doesn't know I'm gone.

I shoved past people into the bathroom next to the kitchen and took a deep breath, then dialed Wilmers number.

"Hello?" He answered on the second ring.

"Where are you?" I asked.

"The house, why?"

"Okay, I'm really, really, really, sorry. Mom said I couldn't come here just because Conner was going, but I came anyway and I regret it because there are a bunch of people and there's alcohol and I'm scared." I breathed out. "Can you come get me without telling Demi?"

"Annie, you shouldn't of done that. You disobeyed your mothers wishes and lied to me.." I felt my heart sink at his words, "but you did the right thing by calling me and asking to come home. Go get your stuff ready. I'll come get you without telling Demi, but just this once."

"Okay, thank you, thank you, thank you." I sighed in relief.

"Don't drink anything! Go get your stuff then wait for me outside or something. I'm really proud of you, Annie."

I smiled and hung up the phone, then walked out the door. I saw Courtney making out with her boyfriend in the corner so that's cool. She won't even notice I'm gone.

I ran up her stairs, taking two at a time. I gathered all my clothes that were laying on her bed and stuffed them in my bag. Oh, lord please don't let me get caught by my momma.

I quickly walked out of the room, but bumped into someone, sending me tumbling backwards.

"Woah, are you okay?"

Conner.

I looked up at him, "Yeah. Sorry."

I went to walk past, but he grasped my arm. "I'm about to leave if you want me to take you home. I know you don't like things like this."

How the fuck does he know what I like and why the fuck is he being so nice to me after he made the whole school turn against me?

"No, Wilmer is picking me up."

"I'll go outside and wait for him with you. I feel like we need to talk."

Even though I hate him, my heart still skipped a beat. I can't help but stare at the scar on his forehead, that I basically caused. I can't help but feel my palms get sweaty when his hand brushes against mine going down the crowded hallway.

I was more than happy to reach outside because the fresh air was something I needed.

We sat down on her steps and sat in silence. That was until he finally spoke up.
