Demi's POV

Well, this is it.

Me and Annie are standing outside the hospital.

"Ready, baby girl?" I asked, taking her hand.

"Nope." She said, accepting my hand in hers as we walk into the hospital.

We came up to the front desk, greeted by a thin blonde, who is way to chirpy to be doing what she's doing.

"How can I help you?" She smiled up at us.

"We're here to see Conner Brown." I said. I felt Annie tense up beside me, so I pulled her into my side.

"Flour 4, room 112."

"Thanks."

We made our way to the elevator and I can practically hear Annie's heart thump from beside me.

"Annie, it's going to be okay." I assured her, planting a kiss on the top of her head.

"I hope so," she said wrapping her arms around my waist.

The elevator dinged and we stepped into the elevator. Honestly, I have no idea what to expect. I don't know what I'm more nervous for; Annie's reaction or the state Conner is actually in.

The elevator doors opened and we stepped into the overly bright lobby part

"I think it's down this hallway.." I said, gazing at the numbers as we pass.

"Yeah, it's right there," Annie said, pointing at a room with a big window where you could see in.

Annie trailed ahead of me and I saw her face pale immediately after looking in the window.

Oh no. Oh please, no.

I picked up my pace until I was beside her and saw Conner in a neck brace, and all beat up. He looked horrible.

I saw movement in the corner of my eye, and the door opened. I watched a woman come out and shut the door.

"And who are you?" She asked.

I brought Annie up to my side and said, "I'm Demi and this is my daughter Annie."

"Oh," she scoffed, "You're not aloud in here."

"What? His dad said that we were aloud-"

"His dad doesn't get a say in this. I do. And I say you two are not aloud in here." She fired. "And I don't want either of you around my son ever again."

"What?" Annie snapped.

Oh goodness, Annie.

"You," she said, pointing to Annie. "You're the reason why Conner is in this position. And, if he dies, I will make sure to come to you and-"

Ohhh hellllll no. I pushed Annie behind me a little and got an inch away from the lady's face. "Who the fuck do you think you are?! NO ONE talks to a thirteen year old like that, especially my daughter. This is NOT her fault! If you even dare to look at her again, I promise I will fuck you up. Got it?!"

How the fuck is it Annie's fault that Conner decided to come say goodbye to her but got hit?!

The woman stayed silent, with a shocked expression.

"I said do you got it?!"

"I- I got it." She stuttered.

"Now apologize to my daughter." I demanded.

She slowly looked over and said, "Sorry."

I turned around to Annie and grabbed her hand again, leading her to the elevator once again or else I'll probably end up shoving my fist down that lady's throat.
