I made it home and was about to get ready to shower when I received a text.

"Hey"
"Who is this?" I replied.
"Queen Elizabeth"
I rolled my eyes. "Hi Isaiah"
"Hi baby"

My eyes widened.

"Wyd?" he texted.
"I'm about to shower."
"You gonna text me when you get out?"
"Yea"
"Ight"

Before I did that, I saved his contact into my phone.
I figured he had something important he must've wanted to share and that was why he was so adamant on my response. I hoped it wasn't that I'd done terrible when cleaning. I thought I was pretty thorough.

I hopped in the shower and decided I'd try to be quick so I could see what he needed.

I got out and was dressed before I texted Isaiah back.

"I'm out now."

My phone began ringing.
I read the contact as his and was even more nervous now. How serious was it that he had to call me?

I answered and held it to my ear.

"Hello...?" I replied.
"What's up?"
"What's wrong?" I wondered.
"What you mean?"
"I thought that was why you texted me. To tell me something important."
"Damn I can't just wanna talk to you?" I could hear his smile.

"Um..."

"You don't wanna talk to me?"
"I didn't say that..." I stated.
"You wanna talk to me?" His voice asked it so softly.
"Yea..." I replied quietly.

I could hear a soft chuckle through the phone. "I like when I make you shy."

I sat with my knees to my chest and my chin resting on them as I messed with my blanket. "That happens a lot..." I replied.
I wasn't necessarily a nervous person. I was a bit jumpy and talked kind of quietly or was concerned when I'm in unknown surroundings but I wasn't afraid to go places alone or be in large groups. I could speak to strangers as long as they're kind (and not fine as hell, unlike him). He just made me shy. Like I never knew what to say or do when I'm in front of him. He's different from me and what I'm used to.

"Yea?" he asked.
"Yea..."
"Why?"
"I don't know..." I was still shy as we spoke about it.
"You don't know?" he mocked and I could hear his smile.
"No, you just...I don't know...you talk to me funny..."
"How I talk to you, bunny?"
"Everything sounds...I don't know. The way you talk always sound like you're flirting with me..."
He chuckled. "I am flirting with you."

I just sat there.

"You ain't know?" he asked.
"No..."
"Mm."
This felt like a joke. I didn't believe a word of this.
"And you said you always been like this?" he asked me.
"Like what?"
"Shy."
"I guess so. And you're not what I'm used to."
"What you used to?"
"Not being flirted with so confidently for one..."
I heard him laugh. "I'm supposed to flirt with you nervously?" he asked.
"Well...no, I guess not..." He's not supposed to flirt with me at all. I don't know what to do when he does.
"I'm confident. And you're sexy. I'ma flirt with you confidently."
"I feel like you've never really met me." I scoffed.
"What you mean?"
"You just called me sexy."
"Yea."
"That's...not correct..." I laughed a little.
"Nah, I think you've never really met you." he argued.
"Huh?"
"You got a nice body, your voice cute, you shy, and you're just pretty as fuck."
All he was doing was making me shier. At some point it would become too much and I'd just hang up the phone.
I don't actually like this kind of attention.
"When I finally get you to hold a conversation with me, I usually like it."
"I hold conversations with you all the time," I replied.
"When you're not telling me you got work to do or stuttering? Yea, you do." he scoffed.
I realized he was right. "I don't stutter often. It's just you."
"Because I make you nervous 'cause I'm not something you're used to."
"Yea..."
"I want you to get used to me." he stated.
"Oh..."
He snickered at me. "Oh?"
"Yea..."
"Bet I get you to like me." he claimed.

I didn't doubt it. He seemed like he had that effect on most people.
I remembered the girl from the drive thru.

"Yea..." I responded.
"Yea? You think I could?"
"Probably. You're not ugly."
"I'm not?"
"No..."
He chuckled. "What you like about me so far?"
"I don't know..."
"You don't know a lot." he mocked.
"You're just really confident and really attractive."
"Well aren't you sweet?" he smiled.
"I don't think we'd workout though..."
"Why not?"
"Too different."
"That's the good part."
"I don't know...you're kind of scary..." I tried to laugh it off a bit. "You own a gun and do illegal things. I'm the type of person to find a diamond watch on the floor of a grocery store and give it to the lost and found. No offense, but I'm pretty sure you'd take it home."
"Only reason I'm not offended is because it's true. And I'd take it home to wrap it and give it to you."
"But you stole it."
"They should've been more careful with their belongings. You don't cherish shit enough if you lose a $50k watch. I gave it to someone who'd appreciate it more and look so much more beautiful wearin' it. 'Nother man's trash or whatever."
That wasn't supposed to be smooth but it worked. Shameful.

"I'ma take you with me somewhere tomorrow too." he stated.
"Where?"
"I don't know yet."
"How do you not know?"
"I just know I want you around me." he responded.
Shy again...
"Is it another food place?" I wondered to get back on track.
"You want it to be?"
"It doesn't matter."
"We'll figure it out." he stated.
"Yea...Can I ask you a question?"
"Yea."
I was really just going to ask why he liked me. Or why so soon or what changed his mind but I guess he'd just give me the same jumble of words he gave me before. The words that I didn't believe.
Maybe he's just bored.
