Alas otso nang lumabas ang isa sa mga doctor mula sa ICU. Lumapit siya dito at tinanong ang kalagayan ni Zandreaj. He asked kung kapamilya sya ni Zandreaj umiling sya at sinabing padating palang ang parents nito. Pinayuhan syang pagmadaliin dahil kailangan nitong makausap kaagad ang mga ito.
Tinawagan ni Blyther si Dreigh baka sakaling pueding ito ang makausap ng mga doctor. Pero sinabi nitong nasa ospital na ang parents ni Zandreaj at kasalukuyang lumalapag ang helicopter na sinasakyan ng mga ito sa helipad ng ospital.
Ilang sandali pa ay nakita ni Blyther ang couple na nasa information. Itinuro sya ng nurse on duty sa mga ito. Sinalubong nya ang parents ni Zandreaj. She is a mixture of her mom and dad's genes. Nagmano sya sa mga ito. Nagtataka man kung sino sya ay bliness din sya. Itinuro nya ang ICU kung nasaan si Zandreaj. Tumakbo pareho ang mag-asawa para silipin ang anak. Sabay bumagsak ang balikat ng mga ito pagkakita sa sitwasyon ni Zandreaj na may tubo sa bibig. Eksaktong bumalik na ang doctor na kumausap kay Blyther kanina.
"Kayo po ang parents ng pasyente?"
"Opo, kamusta po ang aming anak?" Ang mommy ni Zandreaj ang sumagot.
"We had to intubate her because of her throat. It swelled severely that it was almost impossible for her to breath. She is lucky she was brought her just in time. But I need to advise you to transfer her to a bigger hospital in the city to undergo more tests. She is stable but needs more tests to prevent complications. She needs to wake up before morning. If not she might be in coma due to the procedure that we had done to her to save her. We do not have the facilities needed for the tests."
Napaiyak ang mommy ni Zandreaj. Tumingala naman ang daddy nito para pigilan ang luha.
"Can we move her now doc? We arrived in a helicopter." Pinagamit ng daddy ni Fergee ang private helicopter nito sa kanila.
"Much better, okay, if that's the case then I will process her transfer papers and call the hospital para tatanggapin nalang kayo pagdating nyo dun."
"Puedi po ba kaming pumasok at lapitan ang anak namin doc?"
"Oo, just wait I will inform her nurse for your PPE's."
Pagkapasok ng parents nya sa kwarto ni Zandrea ay nanlalambot na napaupo si Blyther sa waiting bench sa tapat ng kwarto ni Zandreaj.
Does that mean she almost died there? Kung hindi pala sya nakinig sa instinct nya ay wala na ngayon si Zandreaj?
Naihilamos ni Blyther ang kanyang mga kamay sa kanyang mukha. Hindi nya mapigilang umiyak na naman sa isiping muntik nang mawala ang dalaga. Nakasubsob sya sa kanyang mga palad habang nakatukod ang kanyang dalawang siko sa kanyang mga tuhod. Yumuyugyog ang kanyang mga balikat sa pagpipigil ng iyak. Naramdaman nyang bumukas ang pinto. Pinahid nya ang kanyang mga luha at tumingala sa ama ni Zandreaj.
"What happened to my daughter?"
Matagal bago nakasagot si Blyther. He had to clear his throat and stop his tears.
" She was broken,.she was broken since the day she came here..."Nakita nyang lumabas na rin ang mommy ni Zandreaj at tumayo sa harap nya. Narinig nito ang kanyang sinabi at wari'y naghihintay ito ng kanyang sasabihin pa.
"I left her in my office to give her time for herself. Think about things so she could come up to her senses. But I never thought she was that desperate to drink four bottles of beer. When I came back to check on her because she didn't attend to our classes, I found her inside the comfort room unconscious. I'm so sorry sir, ma'am. I should have never left her there."
Humakbang paalis ang mommy ni Zandreaj. Naiwan namang parang wala sa sarili ang asawa nito.
" Can I see her sir?" Paalam ni Blyther sa daddy ni Zandreaj. Tumango lang ito.
Inabutan sya ng PPE ng attending nurse ni Zandreaj bago sya pinalapit dito. Hinawakan nya ang kamay ni Zandreaj at inilagay sa kanyang mga labi.
"Mine, you have to hear me. Please be well. You have to be well and come back to me. Ok lang kahit lagi kang tumakbo palayo sa akin hindi ako mapapagod habulin ka, just come back to me. Ok lang kahit hilahin mo ako sa collar para halikan anytime, anywhere, kahit saan mo gustong gawin, just come back to me please. My longing arms will always be waiting for you to hug you tight and comfort you. Mine please, wake up and come back to me."
Pumasok ang doctor na kumausap sa parents ni Zandreaj at tinanong sya kung nasaan ang mga ito. Lumabas si Blyther para hanapin sila. Hindi nya matanaw ang mga ito. Sinubukan nyang pumunta ng chapel baka nandun. paliko palang sya ay narinig nyang may naguusap na may kalakasan ang boses kaya huminto sya.
"You are blaming me when in fact it is you who sent Zandreaj here." Boses ng ama ni Zandreaj.
" Do you really think I did it because I want it?! Zandreaj want it here! She made her way to be here because she's running away from us!" Hindi mapigilan ng mommy ni Zandreaj mapalakas ang boses sa galit. Umiiyak ito.
"You know your daughter better than me. Then how could you not get it that she intentionally took a copy of test papers from my office, reproduced them and distributed to her classmates? She did it on purpose! She made sure that she will be caught because she knew she will be expelled and I will have no choice but to send her here!"
"Why?'"
"What why? What else must I tell you for you to understand?" You broke your daughter! When you cheated on me, it was not just me you broke! It is your daughter that adores you so much who thought you junked her and replace her with that woman when you left us."
"I didn't run off with that woman. I left because that's what you wanted me to do and I think I deserve your punishment so I willingly obligued though it also broke me. I sinned once but I never did it again. For how long are you gonna punish me? I never stopped asking for your forgiveness everyday." Bakas ang pait at pagsisisi sa boses ng ama ni Zandreaj.
"You hurt me double when you cheated on me because I was hurt myself and I was hurt for my daughter. And I hated you more when Zandreaj chose to leave me too. My daughter despise me thinking I threw you out of our house. She just couldn't live another day in our house without you there!
"But I check on her everyday."
"For God sake John! For 18 years your daughter was with you everyday of her life! You are her one great love then suddenly one morning she woke up without you, how do you think your daughter would cope with it?!"
"I could have had come back home if only you told me too."
"You should have not left if you really wanna stay in the first place!" At iniwan nito ang asawa. Nagulat pa ito nang mabungaran si Blyther.
"Hinahanap po kayo ng doctor ma'am."
"Thank you."
Tumuloy sa Chapel si Blyther at nadatnang nakaupo ang daddy ni Zandreaj. Lumingon ito sa kanya nang maramdaman ang kanyang presensya.
"Thank you for taking care of my daughter. I don't know how special you are to her, but I can tell how special is my daughter to you."
Tumango si Blyther.
Tumalikod na si John para umalis.
"Sir, please fix her. You are the only one who could fix her."
Lumingon si John at tumango.
"I will. I believe you deserve the original version of my Zandreaj." At ngumiti sa kanya ang lalaki.
"Please tell her I'm waiting."
Tumango si John at nagpatuloy na sa paglalakad.
