The government started creating rules to keep things in order but they started to go a bit overboard. Only four people could live in each house (two adults and two children), all houses were the same (same height, width, layout, furniture), if you broke the rule about the amount of people living in each house then the youngest child was taken to die. You also make the same amount of money as everybody else. Every month the government gives you a bill where you have to pay most of your salary in the form of taxes, if you've run out of money... You can probably guess what happens. Of course they couldn't leave us alone though because to make matters worse every year one boy and one girl who had come of age (14) was taken to die to show us that we must obey them because the consequences are deadly. You stopped having the chance of being chosen when you reached 18 years old because that is when you started working, or you were finishing school and about to start working. That dreaded day where they choose people, it's tomorrow. And I've just come of age.
