Hair pulled back in a tight ponytail, Jaclyn pulled on the large black sweater over her sports bra. She wouldn't keep it on long, not once she got warm, but she was trying to embody a modern dancer the best she could.

"Are we ready for what's about to happen?" Natania asked with a playful wiggle of her eyebrows. She was dressed in a similar fashion except her shorts were fitted and her legs were bare. Most of the girls opted for this look, but Jaclyn already felt like a fish out of water in Wayne's class the last thing she wanted to be distracted by was the jiggle of her inner thighs.

Wayne McGregor was considered a bit of an eccentric at RBC. While still very much a ballet dancer, his innovative choreography had a defiantly modern aura about it. He favored minute isolations and dynamics over technique. All of his dances were still stellar despite this.

"Is it too late to back out?" Jaclyn asked, but even then she slipped on her black socks that stopped just below her calf. The more she imitated a true modern dancer the better she would do. She was her strongest on stage because the costume was the final thing that put her in character, and her everyday clothing worked very much the same way.

Leo was lying face first in front of them with Thomas trying to realign his spine. "I concur with Jackie, I don't know if I can do this."

"Well if you would just go to an actual doctor maybe you wouldn't be in such pain." They all cringed as his spine made a series of loud cracking sounds as Thomas pressed down. Shaking off her grimace Jaclyn dropped into a squat, pushing her knees back to the wall.

"I'm sorry," Leo sat up, staticy bangs tossed in front of his eyes. "With what money am I supposed to do that with?" Thomas was about to protest that they were all insured, but Leo reached around and shoved him lightly. "And if they bench me for a few weeks will you be paying my bills?"

Jaclyn stood back up, going to use the wall as a brace like Natania was. She wanted to make sure everything was actually alright without Leo overhearing. They were newlyweds, they weren't supposed to be stressed about paying for injuries and paychecks, at least not yet.

"How bad is it?"

"Not sure yet," Natania shrugged pulling her knee up to her chest. Her light eyes skidded over to where Leo was now trying to stretch out the pain in his back. "Had the nurse here look him over, but she can't do much more than give you ice, meds, and a note for rest. Which of course he refused to take."

"I wish he would at least accept the note."

"Says the girl who ignored her snapping hip for a month, saying it would go away." Her concerned eyes and voice hardened into a sharp no nonsense glare, directed up at Jaclyn.

Feeling suddenly sheepish she shrugged, "Well it went away, and last I checked I'm still walking."

"For now."

They continued to stretch in silence holding up the others arm or leg when needed. Natania continued to glance over at Leo, fingers clenching like she was refraining from pushing the dirty blonde hair from his tired eyes, and pulling him by his ear out the door. "I guess it's just some higher power reminding us to stay humble," Nat finally whispered We're getting to that age where one injury can be career ending."

Silently they walked into the studio, spreading out to warm up quietly. It was a chance to clear their thoughts and recenter on the class itself.

Despite her hesitance, Jaclyn was fully immersed in the class once it started. The warm up of tendus and pliés was stable, a good few minutes to align her joints for maximum performance before they started twisting and working on asymmetry.
